Us Newbies - Our Frustrations!
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

"Gurus' and Experts" - kindly take a back seat.

(Only kidding -
don't shoot the Messenger".

I'm new so hope this isn't too long, has illegal inserts, or is in any way offensive!

Now we see how difficult it is for newbies, even with Stone Evans' Great, All-in-One website with my blog.
The learning curve is steep, like posting on forums, joining article submission sites, learning SEO, ezine participation, signatures, email marketing, list building and a thousand other distractions. Once you let anyone online know you are doing these things, their "partner" sites bombard you with an info-overload, and God bless me, I am totally computer/Internet/Web/html/search/ 'literate', but if not, you are in for a Kamakazi attack!

No wonder so many Newbies, ‘with big money and dreams’, just get disgusted and opt-out of the whole thing.I won't mention who, but I joined a "ListBuilder" website and, man, I started getting email's from all their hundred associated sites and partners - it was a deluge.

If someone had the sense to honestly take a newbie and mentor them as a JV and have a contract, that for so many months, there would be a Membership, maybe calculated on how much they could make for the newbie, it would be boatload of money for the "Expert".

I think that Real Estate guy, Rob Allen (Multiple income Streams) did that and the newbie kept all the Profits!
Gurus' be prepared, let me name a few I know – take this link and see!

You see, there is the world out there, a world of "Experts and Gurus", with so much money they can "Outsource, Automate, Autopilot and use Marketing Services that cost thousand$ to do the grunt work, then there are the newbies who just pay, pay, pay and pay and HOPE! I refuse to accept that philosophy!

I promised myself I would search and search until I found the REAL THING, no BS, no massive learning curve, no grunt work for weeks and months, that eventually never pay off. I WOULD find that diamond in my backyard, and make money, or "Sell Italian Ices in Central Park", and then SHARE IT!

Unlike the guys and gals with websites that show their Bentley’s, Lamborghini’s, Island hideaways, 10 bedroom Mediterranean homes and blanked out eBay/ClickBank/PayPal bank account deposits

I, and millions of newbies, want a guru (small G) - that talks the talk and walks the walk!

I do feel Stone Evans has (for the first time) given me more for my money than I paid for. I actually feel I can sell something, have the website do the work, have the member links do the payment chores and give me enough information (30 Days checklist) to try and compete in those shark infested waters, believe me - they DO smell the blood!

I will be reading Warrior Forum (The Best) posts like crazy, trying to ignore the distractions and FOCUS on the target. I am also a little disturbed with the great offers from Third Party or Refurbished PIP offerings.

I have gleaned a large amount of great information, but this now adds another aspect to the newbies "Learning Curve", the websites that claim to re-invent the wheel. Maybe they DO have a better wheel, but who has the time to ‘Kick Tires’? Either way – it’s certainly not cheap, whew!

Maybe you do and maybe you don't see my (our) frustrations, but I am doing as I am told, working at the 30 Days, learning, listening and watching and trying to separate the "Wheat from the Chaff"

My "Thread" is probably going to be "Newbie Frustrations and What to do About It" which might grow into a blanket! (Threads = blankets, shawls, socks etc: - sic?)

Gimme a Comment – Newbies can be "Guru's" Too!

Great post, Condor. Did anybody ever tell you that writing is one of the key skills in internet marketing? Seems like you have that aced.

One thing you mention is always one of the things that I am sensitive to,

"trying to ignore the distractions and FOCUS on the target. I am also a little disturbed with the great offers from Third Party or Refurbished PIP offerings. "

This is a major issue with 'newbies' and that is why Stone says 'ignore emails right now' and focus on your training and marketing. It is something I say often on the helpdesk when I sense that common newbie malady of 'overwhelm' aka 'information overload'.

There IS so much information you DO need, and it is a lot to digest - new concepts, new terminology - you just have to take it a little at a time or you will go nuts.

Well, if you then add in all the other useless junk that is coming at you, I am sure this can cause people to just back out and go into hiding and shut down their email account (been there).

Just take it easy and remember everybody was new once and even the old ones are still learning new things everyday (or should be).

Take it easy!

Hi everyone,
This is my first post . I'm a newbie .
I've been stumped by Michael S. Brown's NicheprofitHQ(free) , Anik Singal's Affiliate Classroom(free) and Scott Case's list-building software-$22inc.add-on (can't remember what he calls it).
NPHQ needs a list which he seems to avoid mentioning on his sale page . Singal's videos didn't open in my browser even after following customer service advice.
Case's download links don't open . He tells me use winzip or similar to extract files.
So I download free version of winzip and files still won't open . So I uninstall winzip and download freebie winwarr , still no luck .
So now I want my money back .
...so damn frustrating..

Great post Condor,

Welcome to PIPS, to months and months of learning, and welcome to the world of overwhelming information!

Things will soon begin to make sense, you just have to try and focus on the things that DO work and implement a plan to make sure you are staying on track. I know how hard it is to get caught up in the "next best thing".

Stay confident and determined and you will do just fine.

Hi Condor,

Don’t be too hard on yourself, just take your time and finish the 30 days, THEN READ IT AGAIN!!. You sound enthusiastic and keen to learn which is great.

Build slowly, it’s the only way, stay in touch with this forum and ask any questions you like, you will always get answers.

You obviously have a knack for article writing, use this skill to promote your PIPS site, it’s not something that comes easily to most people but it is one of the key areas to master if you want to succeed.

good luck,

Mal.

Hi Condor,
You are mind reading for a lot of us newbie's I think, I have spent money following Stone's training 30 day training course, I have been trying to take in all that info that I have been given, I have looked at the Power group bunch or guys and girls, and I think this group might be our answer to a lot of our newbie questions and dreams in my opinion.

If there is one thing I have learned with what we are all trying to do here, no matter what guru's say, there is no magic formular, there is a lot of learning and work to be done before I can think of making any money from this, I know I have spent hundreds already buying things that Stone recommended, and now, after reading these posts in this forum I know I shouldn't have, but it is all a learning curve isn't it.

I think that I would spend the money for a "guru" to take me by the hand and show me the ropes, and I would think that if they are genuine and have made millions of $ in this business they would be willing to share there sucess with us little people for a small sum of money, I know I would, but that's me.

So great post Condor!!!!!

Thanks for your reply,

I have almost completed the '30 Steps' for the third time and it all makes sense to me.
The uphill grind is two-fold I think - building a viable 'List' to sell and promote to and then the 'SEO/Article publishing' to gain product/site recognition from SE's.

I am starting with writing articles, giving my website a keyword tweak and offering FREE eBooks in return for opt-in members.
The "tortoise has it over the hare", that's the way to go I believe!

P.S. Which of the Article Directories do you all think is Best for starters?

Hello, I am new with internet. Infect I am new with internet business. I hear that some make money on line by selling their own product or taping into someone else’s web pages and by promoting it through the web picking up some sales. Some make money by writing programs or designing websites another words those are the cream of the pie folks, those are the smart ones cause when they where younger they spent most of their time at the comp desk learning HTML coding and all sorts of programming and now they are riding white horse. The only thing is that right now I am running after them and its impossible to get hold of any of them for they are high and far away, and I am low on the bottom. So now I am spending money trying to grasp something that will give me some kind of firm foundation where I can start making some money.
I think you right Patrician information overload is a killer for newbies. It comes to a point where you get so much of it that you don't know where to start so now I am trying to make something of it and I am making a lot of mistakes especially when it comes to articles, since English is my third language.

Appreciate that, but most newbies seem to think it's too expensive. I am still mulling it over and comparing it to other options.
There's is a lot of competition out there for the 'newbie' dollar, and it just might be wise to 'kick some tires' before buying or joining a costly Membership program.

Hello Andrey5,
You might want to consider getting an English speaking friend, associate or
colleague to help you with your writing, as it is important to get that right in your articles etc: Good luck with your endeavors.

Hi Andrey. You can fix your signtaure just by putting "ditto" marks " " around the URL itself - before "http: and after .net"

Some easy things you can do like use spelling and grammar checkers - there are some in Windows programs and there are other sites that you can use free to check your articles...

My hat goes off to you and all those who have the added obstacle of understanding and writing in English when it is not your first language. It is your spirit and motivation that will pull you through!

The number one Guru Secret Weapon, promise to teach you how to make 6 and 7 figures a year and then never teach it to you If you actually learned how to make big money you wouldn't need the Guru any more and his income would shrink.

Newbies don't need Guru's and they don't even need mentors or coaches who suck their money with coaching fees and by selling them affiliate products that make everything they teach you work. Gurus love to show you how well "article marketing" works and then suggest the best programs to use or how to build backlinks using the suggested program and the upsell. It is all a game to make money no matter who it is that's offering it.

In my opinion newbies need answers and guides and a system. All things that can be found in the Warrior forum in general and in this forum. Unfortunately most of the people that know how to do things don't wear a "Tin Foil" hat, (left mine home this time) without the hat we can't read minds and haven't a clue what someone needs help with.

So I have a suggestion, if your new, old, retired, just getting started etc. ask questions. Even though it's a bit quiet in here people who have been a around a while still come here and read. Many of them would help if needed. The only way they'll know if their needed is if you ask questions.

Condor,

Appreciate the post! Your not alone, I'm new myself and am trying to balance the info overlaod as well as the family situation. I just keep telling myself one positive action to increase traffic to my site each day and the results will come.

Happy to say, I just had my first full PIPS sale today and I know the next isn't far behind.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the post Condor,

I'm not quite finished with the 30 day training, but I'm now getting a little confused. Keywords and what keywords to use for your blog entries etc. I cant even find whee I am landing in search results for my keywords. So now I'm just going to pay attention to the forum and push forward. I am not going to give up. Besides, I find all of this marketing stuff addictive. I'm just not getting results as fast as I would like them.

Thanks,

Justin

Hi Justin, if you would like you can drop me a PM with your keywords and I can take a look at them for you and see where they are and maybe help push them forward a little (maybe a lot). I might just have a deal for you.

Hmmm, it's an interesting thread this.

After 6 years, I am more cynical, or perhaps I've learnt to smell the coffee somewhat.

Truth is that any newbie is part of the gurus' marketing funnels. It's really as simple as that. The irony is that what they profess to teach is usually exactly what they are doing to you. It's a perpetual cycle exacerbated by gurus teaching the quickest way to make money is to create "how to" info products to sell to IM'rs. Go figure.

If I had my time over again, and with the benefit of hindsight... this is what I'd do (as I now do).

1- ignore all the get rich quick hype and realize this takes work.

2- review and select a system or model that suits your core values and strengths and stick to it.

3- ONLY EVER buy products that you need here and now. This is something I try to impart on my clients. Suffering from overload? Learn on a strictly need-to-know basis. It really is that simple. So if today's step is to launch a PPC campaign, go and leran about PPC, and ignore everything else.

4- When it comes to finding gurus, most people are unrealistic once again. Suppose a guru makes 7 figures, you have to realize that when you work out their hourly rate... apart from sincerely wanting to help others, why would a guru take a paycut? People want affordable mentoring, yet any affordable mentor probably does not have the score on the board. Mind you, when I see a guru produce real costs etc v sales, I'll listen closer.

5- Affordable mentors (even free or as JV partners) are out there. I have some writers who create products for me for a % split from sales. I get content without paying up front, they get to build a business and get trained also. Problem is that too many noobs don't want to work at it. Given a choice between working and learning, or jumping on to the next big things.. sadly many take the latter. I've seen it so many times at seminars and in forums.

6- Big players only play with other big players. Unles you have something extra special or unique, I doubt you'll get a look in. I suggest you look at forming or joining a mastermind group where different people bring different skills to the table.

7- Build relationships. Approach things with an abundance mindset.

My tip: There are too many "how to" products out there. Want real success? Create a service that does it for them. That's where the real gold is these days.

End of rant.

Cheers,

Sal

I encountered the same situation and wasted almost half a day just for checking my email on all the new offers from other gurus when I just started PIPS. Luckily I realized it quickly and stay focus.

Oh yes. That is why we recommend you ignore emails when you start. There is so much information you NEED to know about PIPS and all that other stuff including the afifliate programs just makes it TOO MUCH INFORMATION.

(by promoting PIPS you are promoting all of your programs with one effort so you don't need to worry about the others right now - you can go back to them later)

Plus all the other gimmicks we get emails about will just as you know make you lose your focus.

That was what appealed to me so much about PIPS - having all the pieces in one place - before I found PIPS I had 100 different gimmicks and programs and none of them worked together. I had no clue what do to with anything.

When I found PIPS I quit about $200 worth of $10 junk and just went with Stone's recommendations.

Good job Sal64 down-under!

Agree totally, these so called Guru's only play with each other - look at Mike Filsaime's recent "Launch" of 7 Figure Giveaway. This is a typical example and I pulled out of the exhorbitant $16.00 S&H after doing the math.

He offered the first 10,000 (hype) a free 7 Figures and Butterfly Report (both passe') and you know they have many more than 10,000 to "Giveaway". I mean Mike Filsaime has some awesome stuff, but $16.00 x say 15,000 or 20,000 copies is a not too shabby $240,000 in a matter of days! Anyway, there's no S&H I think, because I saw a download button on the Cash Out page.

What amused me more than anything else were the "Guru's" I got email from pushing this "Launch", because you know they had their products hanging from his coat-tails in the back-end folly.

I had Hill, Haslem brothers, Callum and many more send me email raving and giving that inevitable "You only have so many......." to get your copy. When I opted out, there were THREE "Before you go", "My final offer" and the "This page will never be shown again".

Then next time you log in, there it is - gotta love Aweber and GetResponse eh! Finally, in response to your post, I agree - Choose one product/service and work the hell out of it.

I am pushing MyWorldPlus everywhere and with it's Vertical Compensation Plan and Bonus Sharing, Company share, is my choice. Not to mention the daily savings, coupons and discounts all over the world!

I'm using Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkdIn, Orkut, Bebo, Friendster, Xanga, ArticleStreet and others. I have 1450 friends on Facebook and some 820 on MySpace and now with Social Network "Friends" and "FriendsConnect" it's a cinch to have everyone site see my Posts just from Facebook and Orkut (Google) SHARE!

Isn't the Internet wonderful, where you can expose the tricksters, snare the scammers and share it with all and sundry....keep posting, you are helping a lot of "noobs" (like that terminology) wake up and smell the coffee!

Great post Condor...

My exact thoughts. I've been through the Lessons twice. I've been reading lots of articles on Internet marketing and affiliate programs. I'm in "Information Overload" right now. I haven't found that "sweet spot" yet, where I feel like I'm getting something done.

I haven't been with PIPS that long. I haven't had any sales at this point. I just seem to be spinning my wheels. I've done the things suggested to build my "List" and get some traffic to my site.

I think at this point I'm going to step back and take a new look at this. Start and at "square one" and see if I can get this thing right. Hopefully, this will help my outlook on everything.

Any way...thanks for the great post. You have spoken for a lot of people.

Hey Condor, that is a great post. One I have been thinking about also for some time. Some of the issues I have are allthese back linking strategies. This key word thingamajig and some useless information. I mean really.

At this point in time I still have a full time job. I get up 4am to be at work at 5. I work until 5:30 and don't get home until 6:15. So somewhere in there I am trying to learn how to do all the things Stone suggests.

It is starting to get to over whelming. I have had some people opt in to my auto responder but no real sales yet.

Hi Condor,

What a post! You have captured the frustrations of many newbies like myself and succinctly put it into words. We are all in the same boat, it really does help, I have found, to stay away from the 'gurus' and just be focused because the amount of information is absolutely overwhelming.

I have been a PIPS member now for about 8 months and spent lots of money buying this "new secret" and that "new traffic explosion strategy", that I was starting to feel depressed about all the money going out until I realized that if I started to look upon the money I'm not going to get back as tuition fees for the steep learning curve, it would make me feel much better and it did.

What I did then was just scale back and reject all the nonsense programs except for PIPS and a few others. Now in the last 7-8 months I have spent about 6000 dollars maybe more, on buying this or that from 'newbie eagerness' and made about 2500 in return. (not much from PIPS as yet, though it is still my main focus).

I know you, others and I will get 'there' whatever 'there' might be for any individual. It takes time, dedication and real 'work' and not really easy apart form all the hyped up claims we are so familiar with. You Condor, have a penchant for writing and should utilize that skill coupled with PIPS to make some money by hiring out your writing skill to others like myself .

I work four days a week and have two kids under the age of 9 and for the last 5 months have been working online anywhere from 3- 5 hours a night. I am focusing on back link building strategies and I am slowly beginning to see results. For example, my domain for PIPS is on the first page of google I think #8 for a certain keyword phrase, exciting for a "noob" like me but there are many more to go. I've got about 500+ subscribers in my auto-responder account (not much I know) but its a start.

I came across this book which encouraged me tremendously and the whole point was of learning to Fail Forward. It goes to define that those who are truly successful are ones who have failed numerous times, learned from their mistakes and kept moving forward. I'd like to think that all of us including myself can be like that. Anyway, so much for my blog posting and being focused. I saw your post and the many replies and just had to say something. Thanks for the opportunity to do so.

Also, if you are looking for a mentor I would recommend the PIPS Power Group. I'm not an affiliate nor am I a member nor will I get any commissions if you decide to take them up on their offer. What they purport to do is coach new PIPSters to get their business to a stage where they can get 200 to 300 a month. I've dealt with one of them and I trust what she has to say. So check them out if you or anyone else would like to. You also have Pat, Bill and others here if there are any specific questions. I have found this forum extremely rewarding.

The other person I would highly recommend would be Charlie Page from the Directory Of Ezines. I have learned so much from being a member and now an affiliate. I was so tempted to put my affiliate link but I'v decided not to and not show my signature either, not from any noble enterprise but I just didn't want to cheapen my post by subtly sneaking in a link. it doesn't have to be about the $ all the time even though that's why I do it...I think.

I wish all of you out there the best and more.

Here are the 5 main things I've learned:

1) No matter how computer smart I might be, I can NOT do it all on my own. Once I understand the process, I will have to either partner with someone or outsource.

2) Don't be afraid of failure. You have to jump in and not be afraid of mistakes.

I recently ran a Facebook ad campaign that I just learned about. In 3 days I had over 250,000 ad impressions in related demographics. I had 268 people click on my Affiliate link... But.... no one bought the item. I didn't even get one person to the Order page.

I spent $70 dollars for the experience... and guess what... I am absolutely glad I did. Even though I didn't make a sale, I know I can run a Facebook Ad campaign. Hint... next time I going to combine it with a CPA offer.

3) Remove yourself from all useless email lists. Getting email offers every 10 minutes is extremely distracting and wastes unbelievable amount of time. One of the best things I ever did was to remove myself from all the email lists. I just started going through my emails and if it was someone I was not on-board with 100%, I removed myself from their list. It's very liberating.

Hint: I also learned about 10 Minute Mail (disposable email address) and if I saw a free report I was interested in, I would use 10 Minute Email to get the report (90% of the reports were useless and were nothing but email list bait) and then my 10 Minute Email would self destruct in 10 minutes or I can renew it for another 10 minutes if needed. So the marketer never got my real email address.

4) ...and probably the most important; You're going to have to believe in some guru's process and strategies, and stick to them like glue. Hopping from one new strategy to another will not get you anywhere. There are many strategies that work... just some are better than others. So if you find a program that makes sense to you, go after it until you conquer it and begin making money, or absolutely prove to yourself that it's a dud... and I don't mean quitting from the first little set back or mistake.

5) Lastly... Continuing Education; the internet marketing industry is an ever evolving industry especially with recurring changes with Google. So find a source of solid Internet Marketing news and keep your eyes and ears open for changes that could effect your business. Like the FTC regulations on earnings disclosures and so forth.

I hope you find this information helpful as it has come from my years of experience in the Internet Marketing industry.

Best regards,

Mark Mayes

What a GREAT post, Mark. I am going to get off all the email lists I have got myself on, and I'm getting that 10 Minute Mail thing too.

Hello everybody,

The post in this thread is so interesting that i took my time to read all the post in this thread.

While i was reading, i was expecting to see a post that will ask the initiator of the thread to contact him or her for help. Does it mean that there is no way a personal help can be rendered?

that is by the way, i will like to explain a simple thing that moved me away from being a newbie to a guru or expert in online business. Though, i have not started making seven figure but still make some reasonable money online.

I started by changing my thinking and mentality. I asked myself, how long will i be buying people product and how long will i keep on learning.

In addition i picked a niche and focused on it. for instance, you can make money online by buying and selling websites, affiliate marketing, rendering of services such as writing articles, designing of websites and many more. Therefore, i stopped jumping from one program to another.

Also, i started sharing the things i know with friends. in fact, i learned more while teaching.

My field of expertise is affiliate marketing and ready to share my knowledge with the newbies.

You can reach me by PM meif making money through affiliate marketing is your goal.

I will not conclude this write up without giving this advice to newbies, especially those starting with PIP.

PIP is a genuine program but do not yield money as quick as people think. therefore, do not spend a dime while going through the 30 day program.

Never belief in any program that will make you millions overnight because every get rich quick program is a scam.

FOCUS! FOCUS!! FOCUS!!! YOU WILL SURELY SUCCEED.

Hello LuckyStar!

I have just returned to The Warrior Forum, after a too lengthy absence!

I have been very busy doing my "Green Thing" and going
great guns with something I really feel passionate about, at last -

In answer to your very important question, as to whether you can
contact the "Initiator" of this 'thread' (Topic) -
please feel free anytime - thecondor1(AT)gmail.com

PLEASE insert "Warrior Forum" in the subject line, so I can sort the mail correctly.

I have withdrawn from the "Guru", "Mentor", "Affiliate", "Launch"
and other 'pull-out-that-credit-card' strategies used.

I have decided to do something that makes me feel
Proud, Honorable, Useful, Helpful, Worthwhile and Energized.

- sign up for a free newsletter (is this a blatant promotion or what) -
and ask me anything you are interested in, or might want
me to research for you - or answer a question.

Please be informed that I am still 'Constructing' my
site, getting Product Suppliers to give
us great Affiliate Compensation and Benefits - this
I will share with whom I plan to call, Green Partners,
- maybe like yourself.

I have assembled a "Circle of Products" that I promote,
am Affiliated with, Assemble and Sell and try and keep
as a "Complimentary Offering", to my Customers and Partners.

You see I now sincerely believe that selling, promoting and
pushing Products and Services you don't believe in,
is not only pointless, but immoral!

I like the F.O.C.U.S analogy - that's all one really needs.

Thank you all once more, for your very positive input
regarding this Post, and may we all
"Sort the Wheat from the Chaff" and find that
"Diamond in our Back Yard" too.

Best wishes - find Your Passion!

Hi Ray - Your site is just beautiful. Kudos to you.

Sorry, I had to remove the blatant advertising links from your post - nothing personal - just because rules only work when they are for everybody and I can just visualize all the PMs I will get on why I let you advertise your site here.

I am sure if anyone is interested they will email you or send you a PM.

You might want to put your site in your signature like everybody else has to.

Wish you the best.

Hi Patrician,

I just scrolled up my Post and it's threads and counted 5 website links in the postings, maybe more with the Freebie offers!

I guess some can include links to their websites/offers while others cannot.

I am no longer involved in any part if PIP and am doing something very satisfying.

I'm off to the Warrior "Marketplace Forum"

Have a good day all!

The Condor.

Ray - in this thread I do not find one link or anyone 'self promoting' (which is against Warrior Forum rules, not mine).

People are allowed to have a signature that includes their owned domains (no affiliate links) -

With your last post it would have flown just right if you had the explanation and description in the post and then the link in your signature. People who were interested to see first-hand would have figured it out and clicked your signature.

If you don't want to do that it's fine too.

Condor you sure nailed it with your post. I'm newbie also and have been looking for the right spot for me for over a year. I spent more money and time in that time than I thought possible. I saw so much, read so much that I was soon in information overload and soon thought it just was not worth the effort, but being the hard head that I am I just could not just quit. What I did do was start to pick out one program at a time that was offered and totally examine it and not read or look at anything else.
This is how I found Stone's PIP site and new I was own the right track because of the sites that he recommended on his site were sites that I had looked at considered joining on my own. Two of the sites GDI and SFI I was already a member of but was not working due to wanting to look at other sites.
I made the decision to join PIP and I am glad that I did. The training is better than anything I have seen on the internet. I am 22 days into his training and have followed every suggestion that he has made and feel that I am on my way to something better.

LET ME STRESS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE THAT STONE GIVES IS TO IGNORE YOUR E MAIL AND CONCENTRATE ON THE TRAINING.
