Akismet Spam Protector
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Like many many of you I use WordPress for all of my websites. One of the benefits I like is the spam guard that protects my site from sites posting inappropriate links.

I've never paid any attention to it I am just very grateful for it because it prevents so much junk from appearing on my site. Today for some reason I decided to check some of the comments that were marked as spam. There were over 1,100 so I just checked a few pages

The vast majority was the typical spam. Hundreds and hundreds of adult sites, and pharmaceutical sites promoting just about every kind of drug imaginable.

However, I also have dozens of comments that were legitimate. All of these comments I would have missed if I hadn't been bored one Saturday morning.

Now I know to check it everyday.

John you should also keep the Akismet plugin up to date. You can also change the WordPress discussion settings to get notified of new or moderated comments.
