Do you find it hard to stay focused on your business tasks? If you have a solution, you are welcome to assist please.. I would admit that I really find it hard to stay focused... there a lot of distractions that I do encounter leading to performing counterproductive activities:- 1. Distraction from family, friends, phone calls 2. Entertainment like watching TV, movies etc 3. Internet distraction..this is the main distraction.. want to check mails, read some offers, new opportunities, reply to some email queries,go thru 30 days PIPS training, the list could go on and on. How do you avoid the distraction? What is your secrete? Thanks, Charles |

Hi, 1. I adopted the mindset that it's a JOB so I will never do something that I wouldn't if I had a boss over my shoulder checking what I'm doing. That help me stay focused. 2. I make a to-do list of 10-15 things I want to do for the next days. 3. I force myself not to work more than 4 hours on my IM business 4. I use a Firefox Add-on called LeechBlock to block the access of some websites. It's very flexible. You can choose by days, hours, period of time. It was the best choice I have ever made! 5. I use a timer and work non-stop for 50 minutes then I take a 10 minutes pause. If you had to choose I one things it would be LeechBlock... Hope it helps Super Ryan |

I find the way to stay focused is - to have a written plan of what you have to achieve and work on it step-by-step. - to make a to-do-list for the next day and reward yourself everytime you finish a task. - to like what you're doing. I'm more distracted when I MUST do it but don't like it. I use the Backwardplaning method and it works. Prudence |

I too am a 'to do list' person. However, I learned from Mark Joyner in the free online course 'Simpleology' to make different lists so that the list itself doesn't begin to be chaotic. It has an adverse affect when the list is too big and you don't accomplish everything - then you get behind and give up. He shows you how to make a list for today - only things you know for sure you will have time to do. Then a list for either the week or month - and then a long-range plan. You can move things around as circumstances unfold. I have always been one who can work on my own - however I found that after leaving the corporate environment that there had been at least some structure there that got me started - you know your duties and your time-frame, you have people waiting for you. When I started working at home, I had to create that same structure, because I did find the first year that I was easily distracted and not at all focused, even though I was glued to my computer. I had to get rid of all the junk programs I accumulated, and made folders for everything and put them away. Then I made folders just for the programs I would be working with in the NOW (both on my PC and physical files). Organization and Planning are very important to Focus. It helps me to prioritize what I am responsible to someone else for. I know what I have to do each day and I just plow through them until I am current on everything. Then, I take some time away. The rest of the day I go back and forth, juggling things as they happen. I take some time away to relax and take care of 'life' (errands, housework, exercise, etc). Then it is time to do my final tasks of the day - I actually work in shifts - The 'night shift' is when again I plow through until complete and then I am free! My problem now though is I have learned to manage my time quite well and have spare time - If I was really focused, I would find something productive to do with that time too. |

Hi Patricia, You have a very systematic approach to your work ethics. It is more similar to what health professionals have in their approach..A B C which stands for airway, breathing and circulation when resuscitating a patient. Thank you for the detailed approach , I will implement this c operate formula to eliminate the clutters on my way. The link also is very useful in this regard. I do appreciate your time! |
