Hi Guys, Just a quickie (Pardon Me) A question about Adsense I am pretty new to IM and i am learning by the minute & i am loving it. Anyway...Adsense what is it ? I was under the impression that it is advertising Google ads on your webpage or web pages... Ie You sign up for adsense and then you make money via google when someone clicks on a google ad through your page Is that right? Or is it a case of you make money when someone makes a purchase through a google ad on your website? I just had a really weird thought which has left me thinking surely you cant get paid for just click throughs can you?? Because it would be just so simple to get people to click the ad wouldn't it ? Have i missed something ? Please someone fill me in. Warm Regards Chunkynuts |

you are right in your assumption chunkynuts - what a lovely name You make money when someone clicks on a google ad on your website...albeit pennies, but the do add up. If you plan on applying for a google adsense account, when they ask for your website url, give them your blog url rather than your PIPS site url otherwise they may reject your application as the pips site is a generic site...meaning there are many of the same out there.......either that or wait until you have made changes to your pips site. Another consideration is the positioning of your ads .put them above the fold if you really want to earn from adsense or insert them within your blog posts. One final consideration.....having adsense on your site is in effect like having a leak from your web page....once they click on the ads they are gone from your site! I hope this helps. Graham |

In addition to what Graham has told you Adsense is something to give a lot of thought to before you put it on your site. There is no way to have adsense open in another page or tab so once a person clicks an add they leave your site. They can click the back button but they won't. Not only do they leave your site your earnings are very small. Usually just a few pennies per click. It will take a lot of clicks to make $100. You have to decide if the few pennies you make are enough to loose your customers. You only have a matter of seconds to get the attention of your visitors. Most stay less than 30 seconds. If you want to sell them your affiliate products you don't want to confuse them with adsense. Actually the less choices a new visitor has when he comes to your site the more likely he is to buy what you are selling. Most experienced IM'rs will tell you to only give your visitor 1 choice and all your content should lead them in that direction. A "funnel" so to speak, everything points to the buy now button. Personally I like adsense to be the second choice. Although I do have an adsense panel up top most are just below the fold (bottom of screen when first viewing) and at the end of each post to give them some where to go when they leave. |

Hi Guys Thanks for replies so far...... The reason why im asking about Adsense is because i was thinking would it be above board and a good idea to have a post with everyone listing there webpages that have adsense..... obviously everyone who posts there webpages clicks on the others, wouldnt that make money for everyone or doesnt it work like that or is it not worth doing?? IS IT JUST A NO NO ! Does that make sense or am i dumb lol Many Thanks Chunkynuts |

The people who make serious money with Adsense seem to have sites that are just for Adsense. In other words, lazer focused keywords for one niche - The issue mentioned here is one I always stress and which runs contrary to popular thought for people who think Adsense is the end of the world. It is exactly that you can't make Adsense open links in another window like any other affilate link. 'Open in another window' means - your website is still open and a new window opens up for the link they clicked. When they get done there with that site, they close the window - your site is still there. With Adsense this is not possible. When your visitor clicks a link in an Adsense ad, they are gone - your site is gone and you have sent them to a competitor. What a bright idea... NOT. Congratulations you have made 25 or maybe 50 cents IF they bought something from the link. You may have lost a residual income worth $100's when you let them be lured away by Adsense. However, I think Adsense is good for search engines - ever notice how the words match whatever your latest content?* Just put Adsense box down somewhat on your page - in other words don't make it the focal point of your site, but a secondary (or third) point or even last point. Unless you are satisfied with Google's spare change? ** *Not funny how intuitive it is. One time I just happened to mention the Beatles in some context about marketing - for weeks Adsense was stuck on music and the Beatles - the article and the entire rest of my site was about internet marketing but for some reason Adsense got stuck on the Beatles.... ** Again, there are people who make serious money from Adsense - but the sites seem to be focused only on Adsense - maybe there are exceptions, I don't know. Haven't heard from any Adsense people in a long time. Also, maybe a site that gets really high traffic might be able to support both Adsense and whatever else they sell so that this theory too, may not be absolute... |

Put yourself in the situation that you are doing very well and making $1000's from the work that you have put into your Adsense, then bang your account is suspended out goes your income and Google are not the best people to try and sort things out with. If I were you I would concentrate on making an income from something else other than Adsense. Ray | |
