Hi Mike, Having Google Adsense Ads on a blog can have both positive and negative consequences. Positive in that it can serve as an alternative source of income/revenue. Negative for the following reasons. - It is said that nowadays, the income generated from adsense ads for most sites that have alternative major content is not very significant, so it might as well have a high opportunity cost in the sense of the alternative income generating ability of the space foregone for inserting adsense ads, especially for a high sales converting blog. - Where images rather than adsense words are shown, it can be dominating, distracting and "steal the show" from the blogger's main content and ads. In summary, I think a delicate balance should be maintained initially, but the more valuable the blog or site becomes and converts very highly, the less of adsense ads should be used while the more of the main content and ads should be used except where it can be clearly proven that it is the adsense ads on the site/blog that is generating more revenue than the main content and ads, which may infact be an indication of a need for an overhaul of the content and ads of the site/blog. The exception is where the site/blog is a pure adsense ads site/blog. |

Google adsense on a blog is a very good idea. Google thinks so since they bought blogger.com they actually allow you to set up an adsense account using your blogger account. The good thing about a blog is that one people will post to your blog adding content to it reducing the amount of work you'll have to put into it and also once your blog gets popular you will have attracted a loyal following who would be more likely to click on your ads because the truly have interest in the topic of your blog |

The adsense ads may take a few clicks away from other more important or more money making products. In that sense (no pun intended) it may not be smart to put adsense on your blog. On the other hand, it is another form of income which does not require any selling or signing up. Easy money if you can call it that. Give it a shot and do a little trial and error to optimize the effectiveness. Best, Matt |

If your blog is promoting your affiliate sites, I would keep adsense off. Because one click that you earn a penny on could cost you the next Stone E. or Ewen Chia from being in your downline. They just clicked off to another affiliate program that you have nothing to do with and are gone forever. -----Now adsense is good on any other hobby blog or site. You can even set-up a site or blog basically pushing adsense... That is of course one mans humble opinion... Doug |

Wow, speaking of my blog, look what I found while doing keyword research. I really don't understand, and am quite surprised. The blog is actually terrible, but I never expected to find this, #3 on list. And what they have there, links to my main PIPS page. lol homegrown profits - Google Search Doug, thanks for your input. It's much appreciated. I'm now thinking this must be a fluke, but I'd better start working even harder. |

Because I make between 50 and 75 dollars a month off adsense I leave it there. But, I use other forms of making money also. Other than my PIPs banner my affiliate banners and links take second place when it comes to generating an income. If you look at my blog the large square banner in the upper left column is not adsense or an affiliate banner. It is from a completely different program that is also generating around $50. a month. There are people who make a very good living off adsense, it is their main income and they do quite well with it. It is just a matter of where you place your focus on your blog and site. I personally do not see a thing wrong with having adsense and the small percentage of people you may loose to it are the same ones you would probably loose anyway. My idea of it, you might as well make a little money off everyone you can. |

Yea I second that. Keep adsense off your main page if you are doing affiliate marketing. However, if you are sharing content rich articles or information, adsense is a good way to drive in some income for yourself. |

It depends on the blog and where your traffic comes from. If you are targeting other internet marketers and bloggers then you won't make much from adsense. And if your traffic mostly comes from social sites you also probably won't make much. However, if it's a niche blog and most of your traffic comes from search engines or people that don't really know what adsense is then you can do very well with it. |
