I would like to transfer to hostgator next month. In order to have zero downtime, I need to disable my databases and create A record (direct server) to my website. How to do these 2 things? Anyone has transferred to Hostgator, do you mind to share your experience? |

As for my site, it's a simple and smooth transference. Here are the steps.... 1) I Sign Up for a Hostgator Account. I jist use the domain name of my current website. 2) Once my account had been setup I used support ticket to let them know that I wanted to transfer my website from another host. They sent me information of what to do to the next. 3) I contacted Host4Profit and asked them for access to my domain name settings. They gave me a login to eNom.com. 4) I login to eNom.com using the username and password that Host4Profit had given me. I click on the Domain Name Servers setup (DNS) and entered the two Hostgator name servers. By then my domain was pointed to their server. 5) I provided them(HostGator) Host4Profit's login information for them to use it for transfering eveything. Normaly I gave tham all the information from Host4Profit's welcome letter. The transfer took about 48 hrs to accomplish. |
