I was looking to try AWeber autoresponder for a change but couldn't see any major differences between the two except for cost. Are there any major differences or advantages for AWeber over Getresponse? Can anyone point out any major advantages between these two services? Thanks Fuad |

For PIPS - as follows: If you switch to AWeber: #1 you need to update your home page web form source code with AWebers (includes all squeeze pages) #2 you need to copy and paste all 216 messages one by one from Getresponse to AWeber #3 you need to edit each one and remove the predefined values and encoding and change it out with AWeber codes - this is multiple links in each of the 216 messages (you could also hard code your affiliate ID and links). If it is a difference of a few bucks I would just forget it. |

Fuad, It's been years since I had an Aweber account but when I did there really wasn't much difference. But with everything Getresponse has now, I wouldn't think of going back to Aweber. Note: Aweber is also one of the Internets top auto-responders. I would say Getresponse and Aweber are one and two in my book. I haven't looked at what Aweber offers these days but with what Pat said... I would stick with Getresponse if it's a few dollars cheaper. Hope this helps, |

Hi Pat, I have a problem and I was hoping you might be able to give me some direction. Getresponse had a 'forced' password reset about a fortnight ago. By forced I mean that I could not log in till I had reset my password. So that is what I did. However, since then I have not been able to log in no matter how many times I have tried and reset the passwords-following closely getresponses instructions. I have been in contact with support numerous times and apart from sending me links to reset my passwords again and again which I have done I cant log in. Now they have stopped responding (no pun intended) to my support queries.??? I've asked them to set a password for me so I can log in and make necessary changes. Everything was working fine before no issues at all...and I cant tell you how absolutely frustrating it has been? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

HI. The only thing I can imagine is that the username and password are case-sensitive* and when they generate the passwords they have special characters, require minimum/maximum total characters. When I set up new accounts their system is generating passwords like this: F#9^p71%. Then I always login with the information to configure each account and have had no problems. You don't say where the 'impossibility' is. Do you get an error or does it accept the new password but you just can't login with it? The process as I know it is you try to login and they will reject your existing password. You request a reset - they send an email. You click the link in the email and then it asks you for the new password and you have to input it twice (2nd time to confirm). I would write it down FIRST and then type what I wrote exactly, twice. When I set up the free account the email address is the email alias which is "support@your-domain.com" - is that the problem that you don't get the email? (the alias is set up in the hosting account mail application to forward mail to the email address you used on your PIPS application) so if this changed and you didn't change the email alias or 'forwarder' in HostGatoreze you won't get the email. So two options - if nothing here makes sense (all bases covered and still an issue) then please explain specifically where the break down is. OR if you want to send me your Getresponse username and hosting account username, password and IP address, domain and PIPS ID, I will temporarily redirect the alias to my address, get the email, change the password and then tell you what it is (after I test it). Then I will reset the forwarder. If it doesn't work when I test it I will call their toll free number and make noise - they won't be able to shuffle me off. (If there is a technical issue with your account it will be fixed or I will work with them to get you a working account set up). (their techs are in Poland so it takes a while if it has to be escalated 24-72 hours) - as well they are closed over the weekend so get this to me Friday so we can jump on it.) If you want to do the latter, just contact me at the helpdesk link in my signature. By the way if you have upgraded you can call - this is so much easier to sit there and go through the process with them - no email turnaround time. They are in Canada. 1-877-362-4547 (3rd option) * case sensitive: MNair, MNAIR, and mnair are three different usernames or passwords - so if you set MNair and then try to login with mnair, it won't work. |

Hi Pat, Thanks so much for your offer of help and your detailed instructions. "You don't say where the 'impossibility' is. Do you get an error or does it accept the new password but you just can't login with it?" Well, it seems to accept the new password once I have changed it and gives me a link to log in and when i do with my username which i have been very careful with and input the new password exactly...I get an error message displaying that both my username and password are invalid. After a few tries, i inevitably get locked out.  I received an email recently saying that they wanted to speak to me and asked for my ph number. I gave it to them 2 days ago and I have just resent it with a read receipt. If i still cant get in touch with them, i'll take you up on your kind offer and contact you through the helpdesk with the necessary details. Thank You so much for your assistance. |

Yes, for Getresponse it is cheaper. Unless you work in non-profit organization or currently you are a student, aweber will give you 20% discount. But it is always a reason why Stone recommends Getresponse in PIP, most likely it's free to setup a account, affordable and user-friendly. Erica |

I don't know the major differences but I can tell you that I have used Aweber for around 6 or 7 years now and I highly recommend them! Never had any problems in all those years. But it sounds to me like people are happy with Getresponse as well so you might as well stay with them if you are already a customer.

One major difference is the opt-in, I believe. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard someone mention that GetResponse does not have a double-opt-in (as opposed to Aweber).

GetResponse definitely DOES have double opt-in. It can be turned off if you don't want to use that setting, but it it absolutely available.
