What is procrastination? It's the "I will do it later on, or even next week or next month". Everyone procrastinates once in a while. Here are 5 easy steps to stop procrastination for good. 1. Get Rid of Fear One of the biggest reasons why we procrastinate is because we are afraid of what's going to happen when we are going to do something or take some sort of an action. Being afraid of "failure" is what keeps us from taking action. If you want to overcome this, the best thing for you to do is to change your attitude about failure. If you start some sort of a project and it does not work out for you, consider that as a test and not a failure. If you test and it does not work out for you, come up with a new test. Get that word "failure" out of your mind. 2. Make Action Notes Write down what you want to get done. If you buy an E-course on online marketing and come across a few good strategies, write them down and make sure to include a "to do" list. Tell yourself that you want to get these strategies done as soon as you get back on your computer. 3. Daily goals and plans One of the things I found to be good when it comes to stop Procrastination is to sit down right before you go to bed and write down what you want to accomplish the next day. This takes about 5-10 minutes of my time. For me, if I don't do this, I can waste an hour or two the next morning trying to figure out what I am going to do. Sometimes I don't even get anything done so I make sure that I write what I want to do the next morning. 4. Say no to "Distractions" If you need to do something in your business, focus on the task at hand. Instead of thinking about doing other stuff like checking your email, writing few posts at your favorite forum, or writing a new article, take your entire focus and do one thing at a time. 5. Giving yourself a reward When you write down your goals, also include some sort of a personal reward for reaching it. For example, lets say that you want to write and submit your new article before noon. If you set that goal and reach it, you can reward yourself by taking the rest of the day off. Any reward that you want to give yourself is good. Hope you enjoyed this article. Tal |

Tal, Awesome article. Procrastination is one of the biggest traps when it comes to working at home-- people who never procrastinated in their life, might fall into it at home, if they're not careful. Marige |

Good article Tal. I like to have a daily to do list and make sure I am crossing things off of it as the day goes by. That seems to get me into a pro active mode and out of a procrastination one.

Tal, I always reward myself for not procrastinating but my reward also gives me a hangover. Then the procrastination starts over again until the weekend. I probaly spend 1 hour writing and 12 hours a day reading the differ forums and making my site pretty. These are things that I really don't need to be doing. Years of procrastinating has become profitable though. I am kind of like a leaky water faucet...drip drip drip but eventually it fills up. Time for a reward for writing this post Jeff |

Good post about a chronic problem that haunts a lot of home business entrepreneurs (including me). I like the third step in particular because I do often spend time in the morning just getting oriented.

Hi Tal, Thanks for the great article. I know procrastination is probably the #1 reason why the majority of people don't make money online. What I do, aside from all your great tips, is post a reminder on my desk of what I am working for and why I need to do the work even when I don't want to. Having this constant reminder in front of your face at all times helps me push through those procrastination blocks. Thanks again, Matt |
