Need Help Redirecting domains

HI there,
after a year of good service from David at H4P things have gone downhill in the last couple of months. To get to the chase I have now gone to hostgator and need to redirect my domain name and also a subdoman, as well as another domain I hosted on the same site.

I have emailed David to ask for help, and, I have followed up with a ticket and further email.

Since I am getting no reply can anyone tell me how to do it? I have looked all over the cpanel but can't see anywhere that I can redirect to another dns.

I am not bashing David, or h4p for that matter. I don't want to get into a debate about maybe their email is going to my spam or have I checked they have the correct emai address, I just want to make this happen.

Thanks in advance.

Ruth

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

Ruth - the redirect is always done from the Domain Registrar. So if you registered the domain name with Host4Profit then you are stuck until he responds.

However I have never ever had a problem with him replying.

What is the HostGator DNS you need to redirect the domain name servers to?

What is the domain name?

I can relay the message and come back here to tell you when I receive a reply.

it means that you want to direct your domain to hostgator right?

when you purchase the hostgator hosting, it will send their dns server too try check it back or you can ask for help at hostgator chat room

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

I think you are taken care of Ruth as per my PMs that include messages from David at Host4Profit.

You need to go to the REGISTRARS and in your case you appear to have two besides the Host4Profit Registrar (eNom)

I hope you will be able to resolve your issues with no more inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Pat
--------------------------

Folks,

The REGISTRAR is where to change DNS - NOT the host - unless you have registered a domain directly with the host (this is above and beyond the hosting account - separate issue - DOMAIN REGISTRATION..

I just really don't get it as whenever I run interference not only do our partners claim to have responded to emails but report several responses from the members to prove that they did in fact communicate.

Then they come here and make a public statement that the merchant 'doesn't respond'...

The same thing happens to me on the helpdesk - It must be that people are just so inundated with email spam and junk that they can't find the emails they need - even if they are using a decent email account.

I HATE EMAIL.

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

Patricia, though I have sent you a PM in response to your I do feel a need to say here that David has not responded to my cancel requests, nor has he responded to my support ticket.

I wasn't angry before but his portrayal to you just is not what has been happening. If he has been responding to me I would have a set of emails...they wouldn't just suddenly stop coming to an email I have always used.

At best, his customer service has gone down the toilet. Mine isn't the only thread that talks about the lack of service and responses from h4p.

I have spoken with sitecell, tocows & hostgator. All of them say I need to communicate with h4p.

quote from may 6th email from sitecell:

You must
contact the current registrar to inquire if you can redirect
your domain. The WhoIs database currently provides the
following information regarding your domain registration
service provider...

Hasbrouck Enterprises
Contact: support(at)host4profit.net
Visit: http://host4profit.net

quote from hostgator:
In order to get your domain registration for these two domains switched over you will need to contact the registrar (the company you purchased the domain through) and have them unlock the domains and provide you with the EPP key. In order to get the contents transferred you will need to fill out the form on www.hostgator.com/transfer.php and we'll take care of the rest.
Regards,
endquote

The last email I sent to David was on the 27th April and it said:

Hi David,
I want to transfer my main account, subdomains, monetize-and-affiliate.com, and howtoadoptadog.com to my account at hostgator.

https://gator1068.hostgator.com:2083
Your Domain: ruthlharding-im.com
Your Username: removed
Your Password: removed
Your Nameservers:
NS1: removed
NS2: removed

Can you tell me how to do it? Thanks so much.
Again, thanks for everything the last year.

Ruth

I have never had a reply.

so yes Pat, I am pissed at his offhanded response. It's bad enough feeling that the tech stuff is overwhelming without having someone appear to suggest I have been getting all the help I need.

I wish I understood what I was doing and what I was talking about but I don't. I wish I could afford to outsource this and have someone who spoke the language deal with it, but I don't. So, I don't have a clue what I am talking about, what I need, and who to get it from.

I am going to bed grumpy!

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

I'm sorry Ruth.

The thing is that I am looking up your domains - and I am advising you of what you need to do.

Only one of your domains I have found is registered with or through Host4Profit. That is the one that anyone must be looking at when they advise you to contact Host4Profit.

You can go to WHOIS.NET and see that you have registered one domain with TuCows and one domain with GoDaddy - Host4Profit would not be able to help you with those at all.

You can see AS of TODAY that those are your OTHER two registrars. (so there is only one that is at issue with Host4Profit) - meaning you can make progress otherwise if you would just believe me.

I don't know what to say about your email issue. I just know 40% of emails are never delivered - some email services lose or block at least 50% of emails.

I know for a fact that I respond to every helpdesk ticket and go so far as to copy and paste them into emails to send it a second way if there is an issue.

I know for a fact I am yelled at and accused of not responding almost every day.

Just out of curiosity are you referring to the Gmail account' when you say you are using an account you have always used? This is the one David says he has communicated with you through.

In any case are you checking your spam folders - quite possibly the mail is there - at least with Gmail since they are one of the best email services in that they do not block mail.

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

Hi Pat,

Thanks for all your help with this. I don't think I said it before and that was unintended. I know you bend over backwards to sort out things that you are not even involved in.

I will keep plugging away at getting it sorted out.

Again,

THANKS!

Where to change the DNS on H4P cpanel?

I guess my brain is fried!

Can anyone direct me to the place on the host4profict cpanel where I change my DNS settings?

thanks.

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

Ruth there is no place in Host4Profit to change it on the hosting account.

I am making one last effort to get David to give me generic directions -

I am pretty sure you will need to go to the Registrar which is eNom.

eNomCentral - domain name, internet services, dns hosting

I see a few drop down menus there 'Domains/Advanced Tools/Push a Domain' and I see you can create a free account and then contact them if you can't change the DNS to HostGator through that menu.

Domain Name: RUTHLHARDING-IM.COM
Registrar: ENOM, INC. <<<<<<
Whois Server: whois.enom.com
Referral URL: http://www.enom.com
Name Server: NS.MY-EHOST.COM <<<<<<<< change to HostGator DNS
Name Server: NS2.MY-EHOST.COM <<<<<<< change to HostGator DNS
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Updated Date: 18-sep-2009
Creation Date: 18-sep-2009
Expiration Date: 18-sep-2010

Hello,

They need the login information for Domain Services. It's
their domain name and account manager password plus the letter "a".

Thanks,

David set this up when I moved from sitesell. I have never heard of this company. Thanks for getting the info. I will contact them and see what I can do.

Re: Need Help Redirecting domains

Your account manager password is the one that Host4Profit sent you when you set up your hosting account and registered a domain name - it was a separate welcome letter from the hosting information.

It is also a separate password from your hosting account web panel. My account manager password is a 5-digit number. (plus letter "a" - to access your enom.com domain registration account).

By jove Watson, You've solved it!!!

Thanks Patricia. It actually worked without the 'a' and just the number.

I know I could NOT have done this without you!

I owe you big time. Thanks.

Wa Hoooo!

That's great news Ruth - I am just sorry this went on so long - at least now I will know what to do in the future when someone is in your situation.

Domain forwarding lets you automatically direct your domain's visitors to a different website.
Masking prevents visitors from seeing your domain forwarding by keeping your domain name in the Web browser's address bar.
