Hi chngoi,

PHP is pretty much like HTML except it's got more coding involved that
can do more complicated functions.

While I'm not the best person to advice on HTML and PHP, if you're
dealing with web page design and editing, HTML's good enough. PHP
is only needed when you want to do additional functions.

I don't use NVU so I'm not too sure about whether it supports PHP.

Hi Brian,

HTML is more of a markup language (text formatting language) whereas PHP is more of a scripting langiuage.

PHP stands for "PHP Hypertext Preprocessor" and with PHP you can dynamically change the contents of web pages, write scripts to do all sorts of processing and also include HTML and other files containing more PHP or HTML.

I tend to create all my new websites in PHP as it is more flexible and allows me to reuse code, but I don't advise using it if you are a beginner - you would need to read a text book or follow some training course or tutorials first.

If you want to be able to test PHP on your PC you need to actually install Apache, MySQL and PHP on your PC. It's not just a case of using a web editor. You would have to download a package like WAMP (free open source) which effectively simulates a web server.

Cheers,
Suzanne

php is programming language built for making html pages. It can also interact with your database.

The nice thing I like about php is that I can make one change to the code and every page that has that code is instantly changed. If I have a website with 100 pages, I only need to change code on one page and the other 99 are automatically update. A real time saver.

My site Online Turnkey Solutiions is primarily php.

If you want to learn more about php, check out the link below and download the free booklet. This is one of the most authoritative sites I have found for php.
