Does anyone get block by any of the social bookmarking sites?

I remember reading somewhere that you have to bookmark other sites as well, not only your own site.

What is a healthy percentage of it?

Because I feel some sites are not accepting my submission anymore, I guess I have to create a new user.

Please share your experience?

You will get blocked if you are only bookmarking your sites.. Using various IPs also help with this process. A good time-saving tool i use is OnlyWire; allows you to bookmark multiple sites that you've signed up for at a time. Definitely mix it up though.

Hi,

There are plenty of social sites that definitely discourage posting your own site over and over. Obviously we are hard at work promoting our own site so we don't want to take the time to submit other sites but that's just the rules of the game.

Take what you can get. It's no big deal that they will ban you, skip over that site next time and find a new site that will allow you to book mark your own site as much as you want. Just make sure you are bookmarking all your posts somewhere. I have not had any problems with most of the PR sites (except for Dig).

I use http://socialposter.com to bookmark all of my posts. Out of 79 sites, I think there are 40 or so that I can post to every time.

Best,
Matt

You should bookmark other sites so you are not removed. The key is to bookmark 3-4 other sites and then bookmark your site last. That way your site stays on top of your bookmarks for people to see.

Onlywire is OK to use but a lot of sites have banned all post coming from Onlywire and that can mean you will also be banned in the future. Socialmarker is a better choice. They're free, easy to use and they allow you to pick DoFollow sites only.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the tip on Socialmarker. I currently use OnlyWire to bookmark my posts, but I think I'll switch to Socialmarker. I wonder why the sites are frowning upon OnlyWire. Any thoughts?

Just wondering...is there any real difference between social marker and social poster besides social poster having more sites?

Ive used both and seem to have a little more success with social poster. Of course I don't usually submit any sites but my own.

Alan, I'm not sure why. I have 3 emails from social sites informing me of their no Onlywire policy. Apparently they know I used it. I quit using it because I don't like controversy and it's easier to just use another service. Why take a chance. If I guessed why it is frowned on I would have to say because too many spammers are using it. That could also be a matter of opinion. They could call anyone who bookmarks only their site a spammer. They could be right since these sites are meant to be social networks.

Linkatopia use to be part of Onlywire's service but they have banned them. Here is their link, Linkatopia - Sign up for free and keep all your bookmarks online

On a different note:
Something else to consider when social bookmarking is to social bookmark sites with links pointing to your website. If you help boost their page rank that will help you as well. It can also help you stay compliant with the no spam policies.

Hi

I stopped using OnlyWire because of sites frowning on the service and so I purchased SocialBot but have only setup about 10 of the 100+ social bookmark accounts within it. Interestingly enough is that SocialBot does not include almost half of the social bookmarking sites used in OnlyWire. Makes you wonder...

To get a good variance on bookmarking and bookmarks from other people we started a Bookmark each other forum at:

http://thegiantsofmarketing.com/memb...x.php?forum=18

You need to be a registered member to post, unlike Traffic Drill (which is a brilliant bookmark each other forum that charges $19.95 p.m.) we have a WSO running for only $9.97 p.m. (normal price now $67 p.m.) and you get all the IM training material, resources, PLR, MRR and ability to forum post, PM, enter chat rooms etc...

You can see the full Forum here:

http://thegiantsofmarketing.com/members/forum/index.php

The WSO link is in my signature.

Have fun...

Regards
Mark

Alan, I screwed up. Looks like Linkatopia is still a part of Onlywire even though they are banned. Kind of odd to me.

Matt, didn't mean to ignore you. I say use what works for you. I can only recommend what works for me.

I wouldn't doubt it at all. But then why aren't services such as socialmarker being used by spammers as well? Seems a little odd.

I guess I will be uninstalling the OnlyWire plugin then. So far it's working with no problems. I'd rather not chance it, though.

As far as bookmarking sites with our links, would you suggest bookmarking our articles on EzineArticles? I actually never thought of doing that until you mentioned it.

Social bookmarking is an interesting subject to say the least. I'd be interested to hear how other people are doing it and if it's successful for them.

Twitter will suspend your account if you post your own sites to many times. You need to mix it up a little. It is ok to mark your own sites but do do some looking around and find other sites. This will also help you "make friends" with people...kind of a "you mark mine and will mark yours" type of thing..that will allow you to have more backlinks/

I hardly every post a link to Twitter. Mostly my blog posts with Tweet My Blog. It's better to provide value in your tweets, not just links. If you're gonna tweet a link, make sure it's useful for others.

Other social sites are the same way. Just do what others suggested, and you should be fine.

I would bookmark your articles for sure but make sure you bookmark your EzineArticles profile. Place links to your business and PIPs in your EzineArticles profile first and then bookmark it.

I didn't even really see that I was posting in the PIPs forum
because someone simply pointed me here since Traffic Drill

Thanks for the prompt response.

Hi Alan,

I started with Only Wire...moved to Social Marker and now use Social Poster. Social Poster has a few more sites to choose from as well as picking sites that have the "follow" tags or "no follow" tags or just bookmark all the sites.

Take care

Hi Jeff, looks like both Social Poster and Social marker let you choose Dofollow sites or as you say "follow". It doesn't really matter if you use one or the other because they both do the very same thing.

Some of those here use SubmitYourArticle. If you use them they have a directory and a RSS feed for your articles. You should submit both of those also.

Hi Steve,

My main point was that Social Poster gives you a few more sites to choose from.

I actually have a list of over 700 social bookmarking sites and each day I submit to a few..then on my next blog post I take the next few on the list and submit to them and so on...

Take care

Re: Social Bookmarking

jeff,

I noticed some lower PR sites but I'm not a fan of submitting to a massive number of sites. It will create some backlinks for you but it won't create the kind of traffic that social bookmarking can bring. To do that it pays to become active in the site and interact with other members. I prefer around 15 sites that I can mange easily. That way you make friends/fans/followers who in turn bookmark your sites and who's friends etc. bookmark your site and on and on.

Currently I have 3 Niche sites that draw from 400-600 visitors a day each and many are from social sites. It's due mostly because of networking with other social site members in the same niches. It takes a little more effort and time than simply bookmarking your own articles etc. but it pays off in the long run.

Social bookmarking is very good if done right. It can be used to get backlinks but it has much more potential.

Okay, I checked out both social marker and social poster. Am I right that you don't need an account to use either of them? Just check the sites you want to use, enter the site info and hit submit?

If that's right, it seems easy enough. OnlyWire requires an account and then you have to enter your account details for every site you want to bookmark to.

So, how do they know who is bookmarking what sites if this is the case? I see social poster has an R to register for the sites, but social marker doesn't have any such thing. I would think you would have to have an account so they know that you're the one bookmarking the site.

I'm still trying to get my head around this stuff . So much to think about right now.

Alan, unlike Onlywire you have to log in to each site as you go. Your bookmark and comments are saved and are just one click or drag and drop to post once you've logged in. It's fairly simple.

Okay, I think I understand. So I enter all of the sites details, hit submit, and then I have to sign into each one for it to work?

I sound dumb, but I just want to get an idea of how it works before I start using it.

Hi Alan,

That's exactly it. I know...once you think you learn it all...

Anyway, I've been using Social Poster because Social Marker doesn't seem to work all the time and I can get more back links using Poster.

Enter all the details, make sure to select frame submit and full list. Itll automatically bring you to each site in order. If you havent registered, click register on each site, then once registered click post. "post" will usually put all the required info in the right spots. Sometimes it doesnt include everything so you will have to click and drag the info from the bottom of the screen.

After you have registered once through all the sites, it will go much faster and smoother, especially if you are bookmarking every day.

Like I said before though, some sites just don't work and others will ban you for promoting your own site. No worries, just move on to the next.

Here's something I noticed. On Social Poster, BlogMemes.net doesn't exist. But... when you change it to BlogMemes.com, it works! However, it's all in a different language. Anyone else notice this?

I don't believe I'll be signing up for it, as I don't understand any of the navigation text!

Oh, and Bluedot.us redirects to Faves.com.

I just used social poster for the first time yesterday. Took quite a bit of time, but not hard to use.

One bad thing is that a lot of the sites have ezinearticles.com banned from submission, so submitting your articles or profile won't work for them. Just a heads up.

The frame submit is the way to go, so thank you Matt for pointing that out.
