Hostgator Coupons

According to the Affiliate Program Documentation when a person uses a coupon code at the last moment it overwrites the cookie that brought them there. So If a person signs up at your affiliate site and uses the code "Wordpress" then who ever that code belongs to gets the commission.

Do you have proof of this?

I know for a fact that someone I referred to HostGator ordered a web hosting package and used the coupon code "Wordpress", and I still received my commission.

Unless they just enacted this recently, I don't see how this would be possible. Also, why would a coupon code "belong" to a specific person? Just doesn't make sense to me.

The coupon code "wordpress" doesn't belong to an affiliate, so it doesn't overwrite your cookie. Affiliate coupon codes are a minimum of 10 characters in length.

Cheers,

They have come out with a new Affiliate Back Office with lots of bells and whistles ---- If you login and look under manage coupons it is right there --- I started to copy and paste it here but I dont want to violate their copyright.

It says the Coupon overwrites the Cookie that brought them to the site.

I have created 3 coupons and I intend to put them all over the place.

Hello, the coupon wordpress is not linked to any affiliate and can be used without forfeiting a commission.

Thank you for contacting HostGator!

You may be right for whatever you are doing but you are in the Plug-In Profit Site Member Support Forum and your premise is INVALID - before or after bells and whistles etc. - SEE ABOVE DIRECTLY FROM HOSTGATOR AFFILIATE DIRECTOR.

Our sales page has the coupon code WordPress

THE AFFILIATE WILL STILL GET THE COMMISSION WHEN THE CUSTOMER MAKES THEIR FIRST REGULAR MONTHLY PAYMENT IF THEY HAVE INITIALLY SIGNED UP FROM THE AFFILIATE'S LINK ON OUR SALES PAGE WHETHER OR NOT THEY USE THE COUPON FOR THE FIRST MONTH.
