Without reading the article I can say that forum links do help a little but no they don't have much value. Every little bit helps though. But that's not the point of forums anyway, so I don't see why it matters.

Dele,

I totally agree with Trent. Forums aren't designed to give you the "love" you want from a back link.

Every back link counts in some small way, and if you derive traffic from inside the forum from your link, more power to you.

The Warriour Forum link is a PR5
The WSO section is a PR4
and the PIPS Forum is a PR3.

So, as you can see, in a Forum of the quality of the Warrior Forum the page ranks are different, depending on which section of the Forum you go to.

The difference in the PR I would guess is primarily due to the content being provided in each section.

Interesting though how quickly this forum gets indexed. Even Off Topic.

Yes. Please do NOT use forum profile backlinking.

It's simply useless.

(She says to a potential competitor.)

All joking aside.. forum profile building is among the best, most beneficial type of linkbuilding you can do.

Imagine that power.. and then backlinking each every one of those backlinks.

Forum profile linkbuilding sucks

Warmly,

Its interesting reading this.
Why don't you try to check backlinks to your own sites and the actual impact the links have?
My personal blog that has very little if any only feeds off profile links and ranks for certain terms!

So personally I think they work and are valuable

I use to visit a truck driving forum and in 10 years have over 22000 post. It use to be when I was searching some information on trucking my post wouild be in the first few spots on google. Now when i search things discussed on the WF I often find the post in the top position.

The forum gets indexed fast and ranked high because the information is on topic but your links are usually not on the topic at all. So the forum draws traffic and if your post are informative then your links will get attention also and the result is visitors to your site.

The moral of the story is, make your post worth while.

Hi Dele,

I believe links in forums are valuable as one part of an overall linking campaign. Getting links from many different sources (and forums) is best.

Of course, just being in the forum, participating and learning is where the most value is.

Best regards,

Stone Evans
