Hi,
Can any one tell me what happens after the 400 days are up, with the Auto Responder?

The subscribers stop getting anything because they have had the full series - they become 'inactive' subscribers.

You could always start sending them something else if you wanted to - however after what is 1-1/3 years if they have not taken action it may be unlikely that they ever will..

You could send your own updates. Provide information about working from home or starting a business. Tell them you posted to your blog... anything. You can also promote products to them. You can use the broadcast feature for this.

I agree with Pat, If they havent responded to anything they probably won't. Maybe ask them why they haven't and try to get some feedback as to how you can improve. Maye they are looking for something else that you can provide them for a price

Good point, Matt. I think sending a survey and getting some feedback from your subscribers is a great way to learn what they want. Then all you have to do is provide it.

Some PIPs members have had subscribers for years many of whom have never signed up to anything. The way they keep their subscribers active is by adding their own messages to the autoresponder series. Nothing says it has to end at the end of the 400 hundred messages. It can go on for ever if you keep adding to it. You can't second guess what is right for someone and decide if they are not going to sign up. It could take a couple years or more for some people.

Stone's messages include alot of "10 Ways", 10 this and that etc. It's real easy to slip your own message in between them without ever interupting the series. Change the delivery schedule and it works just fine. I've probably added 50 messages to my autoresponder since I've had it. Each one ends by pointing the subscribers to PIPs or one of the programs I am promoting. There's almost and endless number of things you can do with it.

Just keep adding messages to your autoresponder and throw in a few sales type messages to put products in front of them and don't worry about what the subscribers are going to do. Keep them there as long as they want to stay subscribed and keep sending what ever you want. There is money in the list aslong as you keep working it.

After the 400 days are up, you can email them over and over again even though they are inactive.

I have 2 emails that go out and after that, everyone on my list is inactive.

Everytime I send an email with one of my articles, it goes out to everyone. I have a few thousands as INACTIVE.

Hi,

I have always advised to add articles, information to your GR email series. I have always advised people not to just add "sales type" of letters as I have personally subscribed to many ezines and that turns me off right away. You can mix them in but dont send out too many sales type emails or its not an ezine then...LOL

My series is up to 3 years now from all the articles that I have added.....

Take care

I have set up my autoresponder to notify my list every time I make a new blog post with a link to the post. I update my blog regularly, so this is a great way to keep in contact. I have yet to personalize my autoresponder messages, other than the odd broadcast I send out, and I think it makes a huge difference to make your messages sound unique and from the heart so to speak.

I tried the blog thing for a few weeks but ended up getting a lot of mail from people wanting me to stop. If you make a blog post a day they end up getting a lot of emails telling them the same thing. I stopped doing it and things are back to normal with no complaints.

Liane and Steve, are you, or were you using GetResponses blog announcement feature? I'm not sure what the format is for the message that is sent out as I have never used it, and I'm just curious. That could be part of the reason that your subscribers asked you to stop, Steve.

I take the time to send out a broadcast letting them know of a new blog post. I keep it personal and ask them to check it out and leave me a comment, and for them to pass it along if they found it useful.

That's how I do it. I thought about doing it through GetResponse but figured it wasn't going to be personal in any way.

Re: Getresponse

Hello:

I haven't added any new messages to the GR 400 series, but I send Broadcasts regularly: once every week to 10 days, on the average.

Like Alan said, I try to keep it more personal, less like a sales letter, although I do promote something each time.

Most often, it is to promote whatever I just blogged about, so I tell them a bit about it, then refer them to the specific blog post. On occasion I will include a direct link to the sales site of whatever I am mentioning, but I don't know how to hypertext the links in the GR broadcast, so the links look long and lousy and I don't like including them. I usually just refer them to my blog.

A question: If you insert a new message into the 400 series, does that bump each message that comes after the insert into the next time slot? Or does it just add an additional message in between the existing times?

A note: I agree with what Steve mentioned about keeping the subscribers because you never know what is going to appeal to someone.

It's true that if they haven't responded after 400, they may not respond ever. But look at it this way:
look at how hard you had to work to build that list! Why turn your back on it now?

Again, you never know what is going to click with someone. You might have a superstar in that list who's time has not yet come. Then, one day, their life situation is such that something you send catches their eye, they join and they become a Stone Evans or Jeff Casmer (my PIPS sponsor ).

It costs nothing to keep them on the list and send them broadcast messages.

GT, I can help you with hyperlinking.

You have to use the Dual format... both text and HTML formats when creating a new message. Just change the text to Times New Roman to make it still look like a plain text message. Hyperlink whatever text you want to describe your links. This can only be done in the HTML view.

Make sure to test your message before you send it out so that everything looks the way you want. I only do this for special occasions, but it works.

Not sure about your other question as I haven't added any messages between the current messages.

Some of the top marketers only send broadcast type messages and do not use autoresponder messages. If you have received email from Ewen Chia you will notice that is what he does. He sends broadcast when ever he creates a new program (seems like every 3 days). Others only send messages when they have something they are promoting.

I agree with you Stephen when you say if you update your blog daily and your list keeps getting emails in addition to the autoresponder series then it could get really annoying.

I have not been in the practice of updating my blog daily lately, so I think that's why I started using the autoresponder blog update feature.

Alan, I believe it just says my blog has been updated and if you're interested in checking it out here's the link...Very brief, but if it arrives daily, very annoying, indeed!!

I like Ewen Chia's idea of only sending broadcasts. But I think you really need to be on top of your game for that one

Liane,

Yes, I can imagine that would get annoying. Unfortunately for me I don't have the time to update my blog every single day. It's been two days now, but I'll be posting today, hopefully. So far I haven't gotten any complaints, and I use a broadcast to let them know.

I am brand new to the whole internet marketing thing and I just started with Get Response last week and have 25 subscribers already. I have found that the best way to drive traffic is to be consistent. Write an article each day and post it. Respond in your forums, blogs, social network sites - every day! This is the best way to get people to be interested in your information and therefore want to go to your website to see what else you have to offer.

Hi,

Thats good advice! Well done! Writing articles is a great way to get free traffic if done correctly. You can just put a resouce box at the end of each article with a landing page for your newsletter....

Nice work!

I second what Steve says about people getting irritated with the automatic blog announcements. Sending a broadcast about a good blog post would probably be a better since you can write your own headline. It is the repeated standard headline "new blog from soandso.com/blog" or whatever that irritates people.

After the 400 days, feel free to broadcast more messages on your own to your subcribers.
This helps to continually build the relationship with your lists.

Or you can come up with a survey on the quality of your email messages. This is a good way to build rapport with your subscribers. Do remember to reward them with a free gift after they have done the survey.

Hi Alan,
I used to use the blog announcement but it will send a message each time you update or edit a post. Now I send broadcast each time I blog - it's easier.

Wow, even when you edit? My subscribers would get totally annoyed with me if I used that lol. I usually edit my posts at least once.
