Random Acts of Kindness - Pass It On!

Random Acts of Kindness

Join the movement; spread the word; pass it on!

Hey, fellow PIPSters, look what I stumbled upon.

Last night, I posted this info to another popular forum site and I just posted it to the Warrior Blog network and thought why not post it here, too!

We are all leaders and developing leaders and I think we are in a great position to help advance the cause and concept of Random Acts of Kindness.

What do YOU think?

Check it out:

The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation

This organization and the web site may not be news to some of you, but it’s news to me, so I’m sharing it with you and encouraging you to check it out and see what you can do to get involved in your community, or through your online marketing circles of influence.

Established in 1995 as a nonprofit organization, The Random Acts of Kindness™ Foundation inspires people to practice kindness and to “pass it on” to others. The Foundation provides free educational and community ideas, guidance, and other resources to kindness participants through their website at http://www.ActsofKindness.org

I checked out the website and it is a great community with lots of ideas and inspiration and free resources. They are always looking for more input and ideas.

By the way, it is World Kindness Week, Nov. 10-16, 2008 and World Kindness Day on Nov. 13.

Thank you GT

I have been very aware of this program. If only it would catch on like a wildfire. The key is to pass it on and not expect anything in return. A great program.

Thanks everyone, for your comments.

Leon, I agree - I hope it will catch on, too. I've asked them if I can put a small banner link on my web site, but I haven't heard back yet. That is something we could do as marketers. We get nothing for it, but we help to spread the message of good will and kindness.

Thankyou for sharing GT!

It doesnt take much time at all from your day to put a smile on the face of someone less fortunate than you!

After listening to an SU cd recently - I have adopted a mission when I go shopping - I just slip the checkout lady an extra $5 or $10 and ask them to take it off the next persons bill!
I just walk off after that and feel great about myself and know I have done a good deed for the day! - its fantastic to share with those less fortunate than you - after all I am already benefiting from such a wonderful SU education - wheres the harm in sharing the love around?

Let me know if they allow the link - I would put it on my personal development and self help site to share with my like minded readers!
Cool site - I'll be checking it out more when I have time - Thanks GT - uplifting!

I love it! I really believe in "paying it forward", and I enjoyed the movie too if you haven't seen it - Pay it Forward

(Pat - apologies for busting into your area here - but gotta support this one)

I was the lucky recipient of a random act of kindness years ago - and it's amazing what an impact it can have.

About a week after I moved to a new state I came home to find a small pot with a blooming marigold plant in it with a card "we're glad you're here" and signed "random act of kindness".

I'm a practical person - not overly emotional - but I can't tell you how much that little potted plant meant to me. It was "gold" and told me I wasn't as invisible in my new place as I had thought. It lifted my spirits every time I looked at it - and years later I still have the card.

This was an inexpensive little plant and I suspected some kids in the neighborhood had done this - but I never knew. No marigold ever got the care that one had - I planted it out in the front of the yard where it could be seen, fed it, watered it faithfully all that summer. By the time the frost took it, the little plant with 6-7 flowers was 2 feet wide and covered with blooms. I hoped the person who left it would see it grow and realize how much it had meant to me.

There is something heart warming about a gift that comes for no reason - and from someone unknown. I've passed it forward by doing random acts of kindness a few times myself - and it feels just as good doing it!

Glad to see it mentioned here!

This is good stuff GT. It reminds me of Mother Theresa who lived a selfless life and very challenging.

Hi GT,
Thanks for posting this, I also believe in the pay it forward system and try to give back as much as I can.

Just doing it make you feel good and at least one more person too.

Hello, everyone:

Thank you so much for your comments and contributions in this thread - we have a lot of caring people here!

Kay - THANK YOU for sharing your experience as a kindness recipient: goes to show just how much a simple little act of kindness can mean.

===> Anyone else have any other stories to share as Kindness recipients?

Kym - THANKS for sharing one way that you demonstrate Kindness.

I haven't heard back from the Foundation yet regarding my request to post their small banner and link on my website ... but the pro-active promoter that I am ... I posted information on my blog today similar to what I posted at the beginning of this thread and I included the Acts of Kindness image that I wanted. If they have a problem with it, I will remove it from my blog post.

Thanks again, everybody. Keep those comments and stories coming!

Check out the site: The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation

Kay - you are ALWAYS MORE than welcome here - why are you apologizing? I feel like we have a 'special guest appearance' when you show up and frankly I wish you would come here more often.

I loved the story and can relate to that warm and fuzzy feeling you get that someone has done something nice for you and you don't even know who.

Kym - I have had that happen on the toll bridge a few times where someone in the car ahead of me paid my way and I just got waved through. What a thrill that was and I felt very blessed that day because of that.

My little way of showing random acts of kindness is two-fold.

I don't know about where you live but in the SF Bay Area things move so fast, including people moving in and out, that you seldom get to know people at least for very long. It is like being 'a stranger in a stange land' in the very place I have lived all my life.

I know that when someone smiles at me when I am shopping, or on my way to the mailbox, it really brightens my day. So I always make it a point to smile at people when we have eye contact. I realized with elderly people, that it might be the only attention they got in a while, and they would appreciate it. They really seem to! Smiles are free, give them liberally.

On a more tangible level, before I took on Stone as my client, I had almost a full time job without pay answering PMs and stuff in this forum from people too shy to post questions, etc.

Sure in the back of my mind at the time was, well maybe they will join something (when we used to be allowed affiliate links) to show their appreciation for all the time I have spent with them. A few times they did.

I really enjoy now as I did then, when people ask me for special help, and offer to pay me, and I say no. It is such a compliment when people (outside of PIPS) contact me for advice - just the fact they think I am some kind of expert or even that I know anything at all, gives me all the pay I need in most cases.

So I usually have one person at a time, since that is all the time I have now, that I give special attention to and may spend hours on Skype or the phone advising them on various things about starting a business, doing a project, or learning how to do something.

So many people have helped me get to where I am in my skills that this is just my way of keeping the good karma going - 'what goes around comes around.

'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This thread is awesome!

I completely agree with this philosophy. Thanks for the stories everyone, and keep them coming. I think I will post a link to Acts of Kindness as well. This is a resource everyone should be introduced to.

Take Care,

Alan
