Questions about changing keywords
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi everyone

I am looking for a little help with keywords, but first, here is the background: after i signed up to PIPS i took some time to try to learn and understand more about this whole business. So my PIPS site has been fairly static for a while, with just maybe a few backlinks and nothing more.

Now finally i think i have found actual keyword-phrase(s) that i have a chance of competing for, so i want to change my page keywords.

I know how to do the on-page stuff, i.e. replacing tags and changing the content slightly to match.

So, my questions:
1: Should i leave my existing keywords in there, or just go ahead and replace them all ?
2: Should i keep my main existing keyword-phrase, and move it to the end of the meta-keywords list, ? (does the position matter by-the-way ? i just assume that the most important or most targeted phrases should be at the beginning of the list of keywords)
3: Once i have made the changes, what then, in the eyes of google ? Is it like a brand new site - go and get indexed and add content and links etc etc ?

Thanks in advance for any help here

Brian

You can add, remove, or change keywords from a website in any way you want. Keep some of your old ones on there and add new. Start getting links with the anchor text to reflect the new keywords you want to target.

It won't be a new site in the eyes of search engines. The only thing that will change for them is they will start to pick up on the new keywords you are targeting.

I don't suggest doing a full redo and changing all your keywords. But there's nothing wrong with adding some, deleting some, etc...

I recommend removing "at BrianDalysHomeBusiness.com" from your title tag. That's not doing anything but wasting valuable title tag space. You also need more original content and less banners on your home page.

hey BJD...

I went through the same thing about 5-6 months ago.

I see you have made some changes to the basic PIPS website. I would suggest more changes. Make your introduction paragraph longer. I'd replace Stone's article at the bottom of the page with something you have written.

Remove any of the PIPS programs that you are not a member of (SFI, GDI, etc), because if anyone signs up from your website, your sponsor will get paid.

Change your keywords. Use you keywords in your title.

I know a lady that lives close to where you are, that does that sort of work. It will cost you maybe $100 USD, more or less. She is really good. Take a look at my website, the sig below, she has done most of the work on my website.

Since I have made my changes, I'm rank #7 on Google for one keyword, and #2 on Bing and Yahoo for another keyword. So it does work to make changes to your website.

If you want to contact her, let me know.

Good luck!!

I observe that virtually all your backlinks is to your home page.

If you have not started blogging, you need to and you should have your blog hosted on your domain. Thereby content added to your blog will be counted as content added to your domain/site.

You can then start getting backlinks to each and every content on your blog for better SEO results.
