SEO for newbie

Hi All,

I'm still a newbie in Online business. Since 2 months ago a lot of new things I learn about Online business. I think it is time to study and learn about SOE. I try one freeware to find my website page rank in google. After I insert any keyword regarding home base business, the result is 0. Even after 1000 pages. So I think it is the best way to learn about SOE.

But the problem is I don't know where to start. Can everyone give some advice step by step?

Thanks,
FADZLI JAFAR

SEO - KEYWORD TOOLS

You can use these tools to find like terms for the following keywords that are applicable to PIPS. home business, home based business, work at home, making money online, making money from home, affiliate programs, residual income, internet marketing.

Get at least 5-10 keywords to start with, but over time you will want 50 or more (start small) and as you can see when I say keywords I mean keyword phrases - a long tail keyword (5-6 words) are the most powerful and then you can break it up and rearrange those same words so that you are not seen as a keyword spammer by using the same phrase repeatedly - In an entire page (450-500 words) you don't want to use the term more than 7 or 8 times - so by rearranging the terms you can get away with a few more times.

Actually these principles will help you get free, organic traffic which is what you want over the long term. While gimmicks and paid programs will get you a head start and a temporary spike you need to sustain this over time and doing all this for free is what can make the difference.

Use these tools to look up the applicable terms above and then find your own keywords to use for your ads, etc.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization - you want to consider this in everything you do - blogs, articles, ad copy, forum signatures, etc. You don't just want visitors or traffic - window shoppers - you want TARGETED traffic - people who are interested in what YOU have. So you target your traffic by using your keywords in all of the above as well as in your site meta tags and sprinkled through your content.

While 'home business ideas and opportunities' is a place to start looking for like terms, you don't want to use the most competitive (popular) terms as they are glutted with people who have for years dominated the top positions for these words. You want to go for something popular but not the most popular - things in the middle range as far as how many people search for those terms.

You may also like to have a look at this free website link checker that crawls your site and catelogs all the pages, tags and titles.

I use this a lot to check that I have entered all the title, Description and Keyword tags in each page and make sure I am not duplicating them too many times.

Hi globaltent78,

Could you please check your signature? Because I just click on the first one, I received the following message
"This website is temporarily unavailable. If you are the website owner, please check your email address on file immediately for important information regarding your account."

On the 2nd and 3rd sites, the problem is "The webpage cannot be found". Just let you know.

HI everyone,

I didn't notice this thread until now. Thanks to everyone who said nice things about me :)

If you want to learn about SEO for free I have a Free SEO Email Course

There is also the Ebook that was mentioned above, but this Ebook is available for PIPsters for cheaper ($29.95 instead of $37) at this link:
3 Steps to Search Engine Success - for Plug-In Profit Site Owners

OR, if you don't want to make changes to your site yourself, I have a full SEO service, including the Ebook here:
Plug-In Profit Site SEO Update Service

You can also get good search engine traffic by blogging. Especially if you pick some low volume/uncompetitive keyword phrases. To do this just:

- Use the Google Keyword Tool to find keyword phrases that have only a few hundred searches or so per month.
- Write a blog post and use the keyword phrase in your blog post title and once or twice throughout your blog post
- Use a social bookmarking service to bookmark your blog (e.g. Bookmark & Share - The Power of the Button | OnlyWire)
- keep on repeating the above steps for more blog posts

Cheers,
Suzanne

Hi Bigwal88:

Thank you for letting people know about the E-Book from Suzanne. I'm curious about it because I may have a new site come spring time and would like to know what I can do and what I should consider paying an expert to do.

Have a great Sunday.
