Social Site for Articles - Must See!

Hey Everyone,

I was just introduced to a social site that is for publishers. You can upload your own articles and share them with friends, etc.

The site is Scribd. They have a PR of 7, so I would add this website to your list of websites to submit articles to. I'm signing up right now :)

Sure thing, guys. I just uploaded my first article to the site. Kind of reminds me of YouTube.

Basically what happens is a document viewer is used to view the documents, kind of like a picture. The text is converted into a "picture format" and is viewable that way. Then, you enter a title and description, keywords and other information.

Your documents can then be found through search and what not. Like I said, kind of like how YouTube works. It's different. If you want to see an example (which would be a lot better than my explanation) you can go here...
What to Expect with a Work from Home Online Business

Hope that helps.

Re: Social Site for Articles - Must See!

Yes, I loaded some of my free ebooks on Scribd and Google had spidered and listed them in search results within an HOUR!!!!

I have never seen such immediate SEO results from something as simple as loading a document... maybe Knols are a fast second, but I was seriously impressed by how quicly Scribd was Googled for new documents.

BUT ONE PROBLEM... only the old .pdf docs that I created with pfd995 loaded and displayed correctly, all the newer books I published with the Adobe program I bought had problems with text showing up as little squares instead of letters, and others not loading up at all.

And although it offers the option to load your books as Word docs etc. that just didnt work for my books... maybe it doesnt like graphics etc when you upload a Word .doc.

SO if you are going to quickly publish some books to load, DONT set the Copyright because it wont accept docs that are copyrighted in the properties/security settings, and use one of those free old publishing programs like 995 or your Publisher or the doc.Google etc. as the Adobe published books will end up being unreadable.

And no-one ever bothered to respond to my requests for help about this mystery!

BUT boy does that sucker get spidered fast by Google!!!!!

Hi Helene,

Thanks for sharing this with us. I did read that not every document would be compatible. I was going to upload my ebook as well. I'll let you know how that turns out. I used eWriterPro to make it.

Sorry to hear no one answered your question about it. Where did you ask it?

Alan

I just uploaded my ebook without any problems. Loads fine and everything. I didn't realize the links would be clickable. That's awesome.

I'll have to check if they're getting indexed by Google. This is pretty cool.

Re: Social Site for Articles - Must See!

Just checked my article that I uploaded yesterday. Google Bot has been there twice already, and my article received 10 views. Looking at the times and everything it appears Google picked it up instantly as well.

So... my conclusion is that you should be uploading your articles if nothing else.

Re: Social Site for Articles - Must See!

Okay guys,

I figured out the format you should use for your articles. Go see my updated example here...

What to Expect with a Work from Home Online Business

The links are clickable, which is what you want. You have to do that in Word and hyperlink your text in order for it to work. Then just upload the document as is.

Also, change the copyright to traditional, it's the last option. You can also add in the author, editor, etc. information. In the source URL field I'm putting in the URL to the article on Ezine Articles. Not sure if that helps in any way, though.

Another site is DropJack Social News Network :: Article and News Content Website / Published News. They're a sister site of GoArticles.com or something like that. Haven't joined yet, but looks promising.

Thanks for all this great information from Alan and others. Do you think Scribd would accept an article I wrote that I have already submitted to article directories? Which would be duplicate content, or does it have to be original article?

Hi Alan,

I heard about this too before I saw your post here. This is a very good site and a good linking strategy. But why was your document deleted when I clicked the link you gave it says:

"The document 'What to Expect with a Work from Home Online Business' has been deleted"

I had deleted it before I realized you can upload revisions. I changed the document so that my links are clickable with my keywords :). A post after that links to the live one.

It seems appropiate to mention Helium.com, where publishers pay for articles on particular topics. It could be handy for some writers here...

Are you getting any clicks through to your website?

I checked my stats for November and had six hits from Scribd.

There's some more stuff I'm going to do with it to get more views and stuff. I'll keep you all posted.
