Hi Everyone,

Is it a good idea to create subdomain (in order to cloak) your PIPS affiliate link from your PIPS main site ?

I wouldn't use a subdomain as a cloaking device.

Normally, a subdomain is used to identify the different subjects that may be relevant to that of your main domain. If you were a large organization, say you are wanting to identify your customer service department. Your subdomains might be something like cs.harvard.com

Say your main domain is marketing.com

you could have a subdomain internet.marketing.com or email.marketing.com and even affiliate.marketing.com

These are all types of marketing that go hand in hand with the subject matter of your primary domain. The Search engines look at your subdomains as totally independent from your primary domain, and consider them pretty much as a brand new domain.

If all you want to do is "cloak" or redirect your links from your main domain to "hide" your affiliate links, you might want to review this post I made a short while ago on "redirecting" your links.

However, using a subdirectory IS a good idea. For example, you could have site.com/recommends/pips as your subdirectory. This is what I do to mask/cloak my affiliate URL's.

Well, i use, iframe on a subdirectory.

Example:
http://www.dbookworm.com/recommend/c...animation.html

I would recommend against using IFrames, personally. There are better ways to go about redirecting a page that are more SEO friendly.
