I have been checking my progress periodically and have now broken the $1000 mark

For me, it is a good indicator that I am progressing in the right direction.

Great progress, Graham! Congrats.

I use dnScoop, Alexa and a few other services in the way just as you have mentioned - as indicators of progress. Some of them may not be completely accurate in the big scheme of the Internet ... but again, the value for me, as you have stated, is as personal indicators of progress.

It is evidence we are doing something right and heading in the right direction!

One factor I can see is that my website is over 3 years old. I hadn't started promoting till this year, however. A mistake I really regret. That's what happens when you put your faith in your job. I came home from work not wanting to work on my business. Just think if I did 3 years ago what I'm doing now.

Lesson learned! And, let this be a lesson to everyone else.

Who would have thought that my site was worth $50...lol.

All sites are worth something, regardless of how long they've been around.

This is great for motivating yourself to keep working on building your business. The most important thing is getting backlinks. With backlinks comes higher search engine rankings which equals more traffic.
