Hey Jeff;

I know you are the Wordpress king so I just had a question about moving my blogger blog to wordpress. Is it possible for me to do it myself? Can I move all my posts and keep the links? I would like to do it myself, so is there any advise you can give me? Thanks a bunch.

It is possible to do it and keep the links, I have done it before and there is actually a plugin for it. I am traveling around the midwest right now with only email access on my laptop but I did save the information about this on my home computer. I won't be home until Sunday...

One thing I don't like about moving a Blogger blog to Wordress and maintaining the URLS is the permalink structure requires an .html extension and all new posts will have the same permalink.

Blogger just plain SUCKS.

Thanks again Jeff! I decided to just scrap this idea for now because I don't want to mess up links or anything. Suzanne suggested to just post a link to a new blog if I decide I want to switch to wordpress, so I may do that when the time comes. Thanks for responding though and have fun on your travels!!

Yes... I was just suggesting putting the blogger blog on ice and creating a new wordpress blog in a new directory and using the new wordpress blog from then on.

I have a similar problem... Anytime I start a new blog now I use wordpress but I have a couple of blogger blogs that I started years ago and I am wary about transferring to Wordpress as I get a lot of traffic to them and don't want to lose that traffic as a result of the link structure changing.

I guess the question is, is it better to convert the blogger blog to wordpress (and somehow keeping all the existing links or setting up redirects) or is it better to just create a new wordpress blog in a new directory then posting to the new blog and promoting that instead from then onwards.

If you have a blogger blog and you are not getting any traffic to it, then it is an easy decision as you can just convert to Wordpress without losing anything. But if you are currently getting a lot of traffic to previous blog posts.

Cheers,
Suzanne
