Help Me Wordpress Pros

Hi,

I just hosted Wordpress on my website not too long ago.

Any idea how I can implement a Digg, Stumble, Share This code in to every page and entry?

There's a social bookmarking plugin for WP...

Thanks Robert!

I just add a ShareThis button to my post template (single.php in the theme's directory). I don't like to have more plugins than necessasry and the button is nice and compact.

Gregarious 'was' the plugin for this. It used Share This, Digg and a few others but Gregarious no longer works with WP version 2.6. So now you need to find several or paste the code into your theme.

Hi Warriors,

How do I get something like that on my blog to see if there are any readers/subscribers to it? Also, should I be doing it for a new blog or should I be doing it only after my blog has got a certain amount of readers?

Thing is, I don't know how to find out if there are any subscribers.

With regards to my blog, anyone mind helping me take a look and feedback to me with regards to the loading time?

You sign up with FeedBurner, and link to your FeedBurner feed instead of directly to the one WordPress provides you wherever you provide an RSS/subscribe link.

This plugin makes that easier by redirecting requests for your feed to the FeedBurner URL:
http://www.feedburner.com/fb/product...plugin_2.3.zip

You'll find the badge with your feed count under the promote tab of your FB account.

Thanks Dan!

I already have Feedburner working on the blog. Just needed to know where to find the badge for it - so, thanks!

The other issue of my blog loading though... Any comments?

Is it the one in your signature? It loaded fast.

An Alertra.com spot check says it averages about half a second worldwide.

Oh, that one HAS to load fast, I'm referring to the one that says "Latest Blog entry"
That brings people to my blog site.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about as well. You can get a cache plugin for WordPress to avoid slow database queries on every page load. What contributes most to the loading time right now are the external javascripts (mybloglog, a few trackers, adsense, etc), and cache doesn't help that.

Re: Help Me Wordpress Pros

Hi guys,

I've another problem. I've been posting successfully so far but I've met a problem - uploading of pictures.

I can't upload any pictures properly - I have to manually create them and upload them via FileZilla. When I upload a picture, the image uploader states that I've uploaded a picture (but there's nothing there) and it's stored in a folder (which didn't exist until I created it).

Any suggestions how I can fix this permanently?

Next, with regards to my posts. I would like to have it show in summary instead of the whole post displayed. That would help the loading time by a lot! How do I do that?

Re: Help Me Wordpress Pros

Your problem is most likely a security setting on the server. I always need to ask H4P for access to the temp folder on new WP blogs. You will need to ask them for the proper permissions on the server to allow uploads, bust since all the hoopla they were making over security issues on WordPress I don't know if they will allow the script access anymore. There is a security mod you can put in the .htaccess file that may work, but again H4P will slap your wrist for that now.

I have since moved one of my sites to different host and didn't need to make any requests for security changes, and didn't need any modifications to the .htaccess file.

Also make sure you have an uploads folder within the wp-content directory and it is writable.

Thanks Houdy,
I contacted my host server and they got the issue settled pretty quickly. I've also fixed the thing about showing in summary instead of whole posts by using a plugin.

New question:
===========
1. How can people who have commented on my blog get a copy in their email or when someone has responded?
2. How do I subscribe to someone else's RSS feed (until now, I'm still ABSOLUTELY clueless >___<) and if I find it good, post it or link it on my blog?
3. How do I show the list of RSS feeds that I've subscribed to in the blog?

(I've never used RSS in my life)

Use an RSS reader. Google Reader is popular. I use Netvibes.
