I read further up there's a plug in called AddToAny. I haven't used it myself yet so can't give you the details I'm afraid. I'm going to try it out though

Not sure about PIP site sounds like a brand from reading here.
For SEO I use:
Yoast SEO you have to go to Yoast to download it but it is free.
Headspace 2 which allows you to automate SEO although I use it to activate and deactivate plugins per page to speed up upload times.

Appreciate such extensive list but what can you say about a slowing down of your WP site because of so many plug-ins? Have you had any experience with this one?

A self hosted wordpress 3.0 site can automatically be upgraded when a new version comes out. The admin screen will notify you of a new version and you just go to upgrade, one click and voila, you are done. Do you mean automatic as in you don't even want to be asked? That may not be advisable as you may end up with a broken site very quickly.

More plugins don't necessarily slow your site down. It really depends on which plugins you pick and what they do. In reality, some plugins (like W3 Total Cache) will actually speed things up. One of the issues with plugins is actually using more memory on your self hosted blog, which is often an issue when you are on shared hosting.

If you are not using a plugin, then deactivate it. If you are and there are issues, then you need to do some analysis to figure out what is wrong and what you can do to speed things up...

I placed a commentluv and keywordluv plug in for my Wordpress. On my themes I used Adelle Wordpress themes. These plug-ins really suits me.
Commentluv is best at making our commentators recent post seen at the comment. Keywordluv allows users to have their keyword to the name field but also has an option to place their names as well.

I wouldn't want one and hate to be impeded by them when I get caught in one.

Further be sure to have two versions of any page where you put the pop-up. Most manual traffic exchanges do not accept pop-ups on their ads.

Make sure to enable the "Stop search engines from following broken links" option. That way if you cannot resolve the broken link or are delayed in doing so you won't be penalized for it.

This is a very open question and it completely depends on what the blog is going to be for.

I'll give you an example right here:

All In One SEO (commonly known as AIOSEO) is an amazing plugin that can help you a lot in your SEO rankings.

However, if you're using a premium theme like Thesis (which happens to be an amazing Wordpress theme for SEO), you can actually HURT your rankings if you DON'T configure your plugin and your theme settings PROPERLY!

You could be duplicating content without even knowing it and even getting penalized by Google.

Just check out what your theme strong points are, then define how are you going to monetize your site after that start worrying on what kind of plugins you should use and obviously, which ones are the BEST for any particular task.
