There are hundreds of plugins that do hundreds of things. many you don't need. The best way to find the plug-ins for your purpose is to look for them in your Blogs Admin panel. Just go to install new plugins and search for what you want.

Remember one very important plugin, Data Base back up, WordPress › WP-DB-Backup « WordPress Plugins There's nothing worse than loosing everything.

A couple I use, one for a little pizazz and the other to optimize Pinging

I think a critical one that no one has mentioned is a Back-up and Recovery plug-in like EZPZ OCB (One Click Back-up)

I created a short video showing how to download and install it from inside your Wordpress Admin area. You can see it here:

It is up to you what you want to use on your own website (within reason = legal, ethical, no porno)

I didn't know SEO Pack does Site Maps? Wow we have so many people who can't seem to do it from the training - please confirm so I can tell them to get that plugin if they just can't do it themselves?

Yes, I know pingler and have used it for some of my posts. However, I have a standard ping list which I place on the WP sites so I don't have to think about pinging. Maybe worthwhile to use this WP feature too.

Wordpress Plugin For Serving and Split Testing Ads
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi all,

I’ve finally started getting some traffic on my sites and some money from CPA, Clickbank and Adsense. The only problem is I don’t really know which ads earn me the most per click.

I want a plugin that I can define an an ad group, add some ads to it and it will cycle through those ads serving each ad a roughly equal number of times as the others. It should report CTR so I can then cross reference that with google / cpa / clickbank and work out which one make the most money.

I’m happy to pay for a plugin or pay somebody to develop one if it doesn’t exist.

Thanks for your help
Rob

Re: Best must have WordPress plugins
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

As mentioned by a few there are literally THOUSANDS of plugins out there fro you to sift through.
The trick is in finding the ones that will actually serve your specific needs and work together without conflict or redundancy.
My highest priority at all times with any site is SEO (as I'm sure is anyones) so I simply try to keep things clean and simple as possible both in front of and behind the scenes.
My list of core plugins that are installed from the very start on any site are:

1) All in One SEO Pack - It's pretty much ready out of the box with all of the best settings enabled. All you have to do is activate it. Allows for you to easily add title, description and keyword tags to each new page or post.

2) Google XML Sitemaps - This one's fairly self explanatory. It simply creates a sitemap of your site to make sure that nothing gets missed by Google, but it's still a must have.

3) SEO Smart Links - The following is directly from the WordPress plugin's description (I really couldn't put it any better than they already have)

"SEO Smart Links provides automatic SEO benefits for your site in addition to custom keyword lists, nofollow and much more.

SEO Smart Links can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog.

Further SEO Smart links allows you to set up your own keywords and set of matching URLs. Finally SEO Smart links allows you to set nofollow attribute and open links in new window.

It is a perfect solution to get your blog posts interlinked or add affiliate links to other sites.

Everything happens completely transparent, and you can edit the options from the administration settings panel."

4) SEO Friendly Images - Pretty quick and simple. Merely allows you to easily add the appropriate meta tags to your images.

5) SEO Slugs - Removes the words that search engines ignore from your post slugs to make them shorter and improve their SEO.

A few others that I include if I have reason to that you may want to check out as well are:

HeadSpace2 - People generally choose between this and the All in One SEO Pack, but I really like the "different plugins for each page" and "different themes for each page" features that HeadSpace offers so I run both and just disable everything, but these two features in HeadSpace.

Exclude Pages From Navigation - Pretty self explanatory. I use this one when I'm trying to keep a particular area of my site out of plain view.

Sub Page Navigation Widget - This plugin actually adds a sub pages widget to your dashboard that you can place in your sidebar. Great for when you have parent pages and any kind of hierarchy to your site navigation. very customizable.

Easy Noindex And Nofollow - Adds a simple option box to each new page or post (much easier than creating a Robots.txt file)

In the end it all depends on what intentions are, but I hope these helped

This is certainly something to keep in mind. So, what would you recommend on the limit of the number of SEO plugins for WP powered websites?

Thanks

Absolutely great list!! Thank you for starting this thread :~)

A couple I didn't see listed, that are quite useful are:

WP-Sticky - I do store sites and reviews, and this plug-in keeps my 'welcome to the web site introduction' posts at the top of page 1

Breadcrumb NavXT - This will make your site more user friendly, especially for sites that have a lot of content.

Hello PIPS Friends,

I have resently bought and installed the WP SEO Thunder Plugin from Traian Turcu. Just wonder if anyone of you is using this plugin and could give me any feedback on it. This plugin is producing a lot of article related keywords (well not all keywords are) and I wonder with having so many keywords on my site, wouldn't that be spamming for the surge engines? If you are using this plugin I would appreciate if you could comment. Thank you guys.

Cheers, Martin

Hey Martin..I also purchased and have set up on a couple of sites. I don't think that have lots of keywords hurts as long as the words tagged at your main keywords or LSI keywords. If they are not, and are not related, then I would probably delete them. But this plugin is supposed to work off the wonder wheel, so more than likely they are LSI keywords.

I was specifically looking for as accurate as possible tagging plugin for posts created via auto blogging. Hopefully it will work out as I want it too. I think that they've released an update to better accomodate existing posts.

Regards..

Valerie

Thank you Valerie for your comment. Could you please tell me how to delete any of those tags this plugin produces. What are LSI Keywords? Thanks again.

social media plugin
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hello! I want to use a plug in that puts the tweet this, facebook like, plus 1 etc icons and links at the top of my articles. The one that I am using works when I preview the post from my admin panel, but not when I just go in and look at my site. Any suggestions? I don't want a pop up one.

Thanks in advance
Vicky

You can get a great free plugin to do that here:
Plugin Download Page

There's not even a sign-up to go through.

I know Mike Baker from another forum (not sure if he is a member here).

George.
