3 Ways To Create More Great Content For Your Blog Or Marketing Efforts
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi PIPsters,

I would like to share with you my own strategies
that I use to create content on my own blog or my
article marketing efforts.

I'm not going to be explaining what a blog is or the
advantages of using article marketing in this
article but I'm going to share with you how you can
create content for yourself and your own online
home business in 2009.

There are 3 ways of creating content:
1. Original Content
2. Re-written Content
3. Ghostwritten Content

Original Content
When you create content, it's important to create
something that's original and useful. And this can
be done by reading up more, learning more from
newspapers, forums, discussing with people,
watching television, news, entertainment, et cetera.
The possibilities are endless.

However, the problem with this is that you may
run out of ideas or inspiration very quickly after
you've finished with your content creation.

To beat this problem, you can re-write content.

Re-written Content
You can get content from various article directories,
from blogs, from private label right (PLR) products.
It's important to know that you can't just take any
of these published content and claim them as your
own.

However, when you read the content and you get
an idea from it, you are free to talk more about
it. Ideas are not copyrightable (and that's a real
word!)

If you are re-writing content and submitting them
to article directories where they have human
reviewers (like Ezine Articles), make sure that your
content is significantly unique.

The problem that you face with re-written articles
is that it may turn out too much like the original
content, so you need to re-write them so that
they're uniquely different.

Here's a site that I use:
DupeCop - Online and desktop tools to detect
duplicate content

This site has a useful function that lets you check
your content versus the original content to check
on the uniqueness.

I usually aim for more than 50%.

Plagiarism Checker is another site that you can
consider adding into your arsenal of duplicate
content checking.

Ghostwritten Content
Ghostwritten content simply means to pay
someone to write your content for you and you
have the exclusive rights to the content. You can
claim that the article was written by you.

You can head on to Elance | Connect with Qualified
Professionals to hire somebody to do the work of
content writing for you.

The tip that I can give you is to do a "shotgun"
approach first. That means to hire a few ghostwriters
at one time and have them write your content.

Test them on their speed, their creation content,
their response rate, how often they update you on
the progress of creation, etc.

For the fast ones, you can keep them in your
contact list when you want more ghostwritten
content. For the ones that don't match up to your
standards, just move on to finding other ghostwriters.

Hi Malcolm, Jasonb25,

Glad that you like it. Take it, go forth and
prosper!

Another great tip that I can recommend
after being inspired by another thread in
the main forum is to use public domain
material.

The reason why people DON'T use PLR is
because a lot of PLR are actually written
poorly... either because the people who
wrote the PLR are:

1. Not trained in writing a book
2. Not the real expert on the topic
3. Got their material from OTHER PLR
4. Re-hashed material
5. May not have done research

Public domain material, on the other
hand, is the exact opposite. They're
well researched, written by expert
authors and they're original.

However, I stand on the side of PLR in
that you don't use PLR as is... but rather
use PLR for inspiration. For ideas.

It's easier to critique a painting then to
actually paint a masterpiece.

So if you can take a piece of painting
(in this example, a PLR) and critique it,
you can take those critiques, those ideas,
those observations and make them into
articles of yours.

There's a lot of advantages of using PLR
but you should stick to using them as
creating content for your own home
business for now, until you know how to
maximise the usage of PLR.

Hi Asher,

Thanks for sharing. Just curious. How much would it cost to get a ghost written article done.

Hi Peter,

It really depends. Articles can cost about $5 per piece
or somewhere around there. There are those that work
by hour as well.

A tip for you if you do decide to use ghostwritten
articles... always take the first paragraph and do a
Google search with it to see if there's an exact copy.

Some ghostwriters have a very bad habit of copy-and-
paste from different blogs before sending it to you. I've
experienced that.

I forget where I saw this, maybe in the Entrepreneur Forums, but another way to get fresh content is to go to YouTube and watch videos on the topic you want to write about. You'll get a lot of good content that way.

Yes, that's a great tip Alan! I use that method to get new
ideas as well. Even though it's not allowed to copy the
video's audio content word for word, it's perfectly fine to
get ideas from it and make new content from it.

If anyone's a regular YouTube visitor, after watching any
videos, if there's any correlation whatsoever to your home
business, go ahead and use the video to talk about your
home business.

It'll entertain your visitors/customers as well as provide
good, new content for yourself.

Thanks for sharing, Alan!

Yeah, definitely don't copy word for word. It helps to get ideas if you're struggling with coming up with content or if you're not real knowledgeable in that area.

Hi Everyone!

I have 2 Questions...

I'm just learning about article writing myself and thanks Asher for those links in your post... very helpful.

1. Correct me if I'm wrong about this but I believe you can use content from Wikipedia.org. Word for word if you like. I would think you would want to re word it anyway so it doesn't read like an encyclopedia. But before I do anything stupid... Is this true??

2ND question...regarding PUBLIC DOMAINS:

Are there websites for this? Or maybe I just don't get public domains. How do you find public domains?

Actually, I used the keyword (public domain) to "Google it" and got a ton of info and found myself all over the map so to speak, but never could find how to get to the relevant content.

So if you have anymore detailed information on "Public Domains" as to exactly what is it? Where is it? or how can I find out more about it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Mirza

Yes, you *can* use the content in Wikipedia and
even if it's word for word on your own blog. However,
it's much better to use Wikipedia as a resource rather
than having another copy of Wikipedia information on
your blog.

The search engine's not going to rank what you copied
on your blog above Wikipedia in the search engines.

To prove my point, if you search for "work from home"
on Wikipedia (you'll get redirected to telecommuting),
the first line of the Wiki-explanation is this:

Telecommuting, e-commuting, e-work, telework,
working at home (WAH)
, or working from home (WFH)
is a work arrangement in which employees enjoy flexibility
in working location and hours.

If you copy-and-paste all those words into a search
engine, you'll have search results of different web
pages with the exact same content. But the first one
is Wikipedia's site.

Where do you think users are likely to click on? Your site
or Wikipedia?

Yes, there are TONS of websites for this. I have some
public domain materials by some very well-known public
domain "gurus" and they give great resources as well
as tutorials.

Public domain is anything that's not controlled or owned
by anyone and indicates that it's free for anyone to use.

If any copyright material did not register to renew it's
copyright after a certain period of time, it loses it's
copyright and goes into the public domain (that's what
happened to the awesome book, Think and Grow Rich).

If you're looking for internet marketing stuff on public
domain, unfortunately, even for me it's a futile search
because most public domain material is very old. And
they're so old the mobile phone hasn't been invented
yet - much less the internet.

But public domains are absolutely GREAT for creating
content that are about dogs, cats, hairstyles, fashion,
et cetera.

Hope this answers your questions

You're very welcome Dylan.

Just to let you know, you cannot have
affiliate links in your signatures on this
forum. If it's promoting your website,
it's fine.

But no affiliate links (besides, the link
is broken).

I encourage you to remove it before
the moderators do something about
it.

Hi Anthony,

You're very welcome. Internet marketing is quite
addictive I must say... but I think it's the marketing
aspect of it that keeps people interested and the
internet aspect of it that reaches out to people.

Anyone try using Amazon Mechanical Turk to find people to write articles. I've heard it's the most cost effective for the results, but not directly from someone who had use the service.

Hi Asher,

Great stuff here. I know how writing is a huge part of promoting our businesses and how difficult it can be for some of us to write constantly day in and day out. Outsourcing is a great idea but can be expensive, especially if you are not yet making any online income.

Heres a suggestion Id like to add...

Talk to a friend or relative, someone you know is a good writer and ask them for help. Tell them you will pay them $2 - 4 an article and if they do a good job and as your internet income increases you will pay them more.

This has worked more than a few times for me and they were happy to help out and they even thought the pay was decent enough. A couple of times I would just explain what I was doing and they asked me if they could help.

Of course not everyone is a gifted writer and can just pick up a topic and write on it but there are a few that can. Ask around and you might be surprised where the help can come from.

Best,

Matt

I have found a great software program called 'Article Ideas' which scans the web for non-commercial articles listed under 'Main Topic' and 'Sub Topic' and then presents the results with the web address and a synopsis of the article.

This facet enables you to quickly choose those which you deem to fit your requirements.

You can set the number of results required from 10 into the hundreds.
