Basically the more links you get and the higher PR they are, the higher your PR will go in each update. Getting a PR1 is very easy but it's still a nice step in the right direction so congratulations to you for that.

Here's a link to a chart to give you more of a visual on how the PR works...

I'm sure it's not entirely accurate but it at least gives a good idea.

Once you start getting up around PR4-5 is when it becomes very difficult to go any higher.

The latest PR update from Google had been most eventful. Many reputed sites lost their PR and some gained unexpected PR. Even sites with 'nofollow' links got good PR. And there are numerous types of example regarding recent PR update from Google. But one thing is crystal clear..

Google is planning to change the PR algorithm. And it has started.

Backlinks are links on other sites pointing to your site. Site links are links on your site pointing out to other sites.

Okay, so basically what you're saying is, the higher the PR the more popular your site is?
 PR is a little confusing to me, but have been reading and studying it more and more, still a little lost on most things concerning it.

Look at it this way...

In the grand scheme of things PR really doesn't mean much. Yes, it does help in some ways to have a higher PR. But a lower PR site can easily outrank and higher PR site, and be more popular, and make more money, etc...

However, getting backlinks is very important for gaining higher SE rankings, and that's also the same way you get a higher PR. So in that regard they do go hand in hand. Typically the more backlinks you have and the higher quality/PR of your backlinks, the higher your rankings and PR will be.

Don't waste your time worrying about PR. Just keep adding fresh content to your site, building backlinks, marketing it, and so on. Everything else will fall into place.

Phewwwwwwww! Thanks for clearing that up! I thought I was going to have an extra challenge on my hands there for a bit, not saying that's a bad thing, but this certainly relieves a bit of stress for me for sure. I'm certainly trying to focus on just what you said, "adding fresh content".
Great tips, thanks much!
Jenny
