Or o you know any dofollow edu & gov sites that allow backlinks?

Hi, have you tried Google?

Here is some info from Google. These sites list dofollow forums
List of Forums that allow “dofollow” signature links | Swollen Pickles
DoFollow Forums Search Engine

Remember that links need to be from sites that are relevant to your site. Both .edu and .gov sites can build your sites "trust" but they don't usually give you much "link juice".

For blog commenting you can use Comment Kahuna | Free Link Building Software to find both .edu and .gov blogs to comment on. It's free and has a great list of sites.

In Oct 2008's Google/Webmaster chat this is said:

"TylerDee, TX: Are .gov and .edu back links still considered more "link juice" than the common back link?
Matt Cutts: This is a common misconception--you don't get any PageRank boost from having an .edu link or .gov link automatically. Hah John, I beat you to it! If you get an .edu link and no one is linking to that .edu page, you're not going to get any PageRank at all because that .edu page doesn't have any PageRank.
JohnMu: We generally treat all links the same - be it from .gov or .edu or .info sites."

So this means that .edu and .gov links are treated same as othes.

Thanks for the writeup. I undoubtedly agree with what you are saying. I’ve been talking about this topic a great deal lately with my brother so hopefully this will get him to see my point of view:
