Hello everyone, I got a request from another webmaster wanting to post an article onto my site. Would you recommend me excepting the article and posting it to my site? Thanks in advance for your input. |

Hello: Such an agreement can be beneficial for you (fresh content!), but make sure the article in question is well written, the topic is closely related to the theme or niche of your website, provides real value to your readers (not just a promo for some product or service), and that if it contains a link or two, those links point to the author's website (or a page on the website) and NOT to an affiliate page. (Also make sure the theme or niche of the author's website is related to yours and not some 'questionable' site.) Remember, any content you allow on your site is, in the eyes of your visitors, a reflection of your own beliefs, ethics and quality standards. You will be judged by this content. (Just my opinions.) I agree Martha - this could be a beneficial back link - but only if his links go to a reputable and related website as GT said.

Here are the guidelines I typically use when someone wants to send me a guest post for any of my blogs. If their post doesn't meet all of these then I won't publish it and I tell them that ahead of time... 1) The post must be related to the content/niche of my blog. 2) Must be high quality and 100% original. Written exclusively for my blog. 3) Must not be spun, copied, or plagiarized. 4) Minimum of 400 words of useful content. No fluff and filler just to boost the word count. 5) Posts with an excessive amount of spelling and grammar errors will not be accepted. 6) You are allowed one link to your site in the post. The link must be to a site that is at least somewhat related to mine in niche/topic. Absolutely no links to adult, hate, gambling, banned, or other bad neighborhood sites will be accepted. 7) I get final approval of all posts. If I feel your post needs to be edited or deleted, for any reason, at any time, I reserve the right to do so. By sending a post you are agreeing that it becomes property of this website and its owner. |

Martha and Trent, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciated this discussion so much that I wrote a Warrior Forum blog post about it, highlighting Martha's question and Trent's awesome guidelines. I hope you don't mind, but I included links to each of your Warrior Forum profiles in the blog post. You can check it out here, if you want: Allowing Other Internet Marketers To Post Content On Your Site The info is valuable and I thought other WF members (who may not visit the PIPS forum) would appreciate it. Of recent I receive many comments of appreciation posted for my approval. As you know most of them come with links to their website dealing in products or services not really related to the kind of business I am doing. Should I still focus on approving only those posted by people whose business is related to my business? Which kind of comments do you recommend to be accepted for posting on one's blog or website? | |

Hello, Goleza: Thank you for your kind comment. Regarding comments submitted to my blogs/websites, personally I am very selective about which ones I approve and which ones I delete. As you have noted, many submitted comments also include a web link, which suggests to me that the person submitting the comment is only trying to get a backlink or get more exposure for their website. In most cases, it is my feeling that the comment is not sincere or legitimate, so I delete the submission. On a rare occasion I might approve the comment, but if I do not personally know the person, then I remove the web link before the comment goes live. On the other hand, I am very careful to watch for comment submitters who I DO know. I do not want to discourage them from commenting, so I generally always approve their comments. If their comment includes a web link, then I will let it go live only if I have a developed relationship with the person (I know them from a marketing plan or a social site), and as long as their comment is directly related to the blog post and is a thoughtful comment that adds value to the discussion. That's how I personally approach the issue. Most of the spam comments are (to me) very obviously spam comments. When in doubt, I will occasionally click on the person's website to decide if they are a real person or if they are just spamming the blogs. GT |

Trent thank you so very much for your awesome guidelines I will always keep them in mind. Gt I want to thank you as well; I'm sure there will be others that will be able to use all of this information. I appreciate the information you gave regarding approving comments on our blogs. I have been struggling with that issue. I always click on the links to see what kid of sites they are and if they are related and the comments are worth posting I will approve them. Thanks to everyone for your help. Martha |

Hello, I promised GT that I would post back to let him know if I decided to post the article that was offered me to post on my site. I did send the young lady an email telling her to forward the article to me for review. I, also put some of the things Trent said above in the email, such as the content had to be original, must be at least 400 words, could have 2 links, one to her website main page and 1 to an article on her blog. I also put several other rules in the guideline for her. Once I sent that to her she never responded back to me. Martha |

She must have realized that her article sucked or that you were too smart to be fooled by someone trying to send you copied content, or something else along those lines. Also, one more thing to note, even when you have guidelines in place (such as the ones I listed above) most of the guest posts people send you will still not be good enough to publish. Either they simply ignore the guidelines or they somehow think their article lives up to them. Most of them won't! You have to be picky.
