| Don't be an "Almost" Achiever by Bill Mansell One of the saddest words in the English language is the word "almost." I'm not speaking of someone who gives it their all but barely misses their goal. (That person is sure to double his or her efforts and demolish the goal the next time around.) I'm talking about the person who "almost" get's started, or who "almost" sets a goal, or who "almost" gives it their best shot. As a sales manager for many years I heard excuses like these: "I almost had time to study my presentation" or "I almost remembered to apply the skills from our last seminar" or "I almost made some cold calls!" The sad part, of course, is that these same people "almost" became successful. They put in quite a bit of mental exertion to get to the point where they almost accomplished something, but they failed to hang in there for that final push---that extra effort. Unfortunately, as sales people, commissions on sales they "almost" made still amounted to zero. Almost means very nearly, coming close to, or not quite. If you are going to put in the effort to "almost" do something, why not put out that tiny bit more effort to just do it? Of course there are situations over which you have no control. With those, we do the best we can. But, in those situations where we have control, "almost" effort is never good enough. It takes grit and determination to go all the way with a project, but it can mean the difference between success and mediocrity. Instead of 90% effort, give 100% to every project. When you do, even though your effort is only increased by 10%, your results could improve by 50% or 100% or 500%. Success Tip: Never settle for "almost" when you can just do it 100%. That tiny bit of extra effort will multiply your results exponentially. From MindPerk.com |

| Winners vs Losers A winner is always part of the answer. A loser is always part of the problem. A winner always has a plan. A loser always has an excuse. A winner says: "Let me do it for you." A loser says: "That is not my job." A winner sees an answer for any problem. A loser sees a problem for any answer. A winner sees a green near every sandtrap. A loser sees two sandtraps near every green. A winner says: "It may be difficult but it's possible." A loser says: "It may be possible but it's too difficult." x |

Just saw this section. I'm always coming across quotes that suddenly inspire me or remind me to do something. Don't know the authors, but... "If you do nothing, You will get nothing!" "If you don't shoot, you won't score!" My personal favorite (my kids will tell you it's true -- I say it enough when they step way over the line...or just to feel better to give hope on the horizon) "Today (or tomorrow when the day is already shot) is a new day with new opportunities." |

Here are a few - Most of them, still alive and kicking today. Great thread, btw. Beginning today … treat everyone you meet as if he or she were going to be dead by midnight. | Self Esteem Makes the Difference! Dr. Maxwell Maltz, a world famous plastic surgeon, noticed that many people who don't really need it would come to him for plastic surgery. Their real problem was not their outward physical appearance, but their inner, hidden self-image. "These people were unhappy and unsuccessful because their hidden self-images compelled them to make mistakes, actually to do the wrong thing. Subconsciously these people were not aware that their self-images were the cause of their failure."Success Tip: The way you feel comes from inside yourself, not from the way you look or dress. Your appearance is important, but not as important as nurturing a positive feeling about your self from the inside. |

Hey Team Hope ALL IS GOOD. When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large empty catering size mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of small pebbles and poured them into the jar & shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes.’ The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. Now, said the professor as the laughter subsided, I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things – your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions – and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else – the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend. Peace From Chunkynuts |

Just came accross this terrific thread. A line from the poem "Desiderata" is one I've always thought was great. 'Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there is in silence'. It's a wonderful poem, by Max Ehrmann. Cheers Nick |

| You Can't Fail! As a college student, I worked part-time under a wise sales manager, Mark Benson. He often made the statement: “You cannot fail in this business! You can quit, but you cannot fail.” I didn’t understand this at first, but as I watched people come and go, I realized it was true. You’re never beaten until you quit trying. This shifts the focus from the results, to you—your personal attitude and effort. And since a positive attitude coupled with massive personal effort always yields exciting results, this is where the focus belongs.-- by Bill Mansell Those who focus on results only tend to ride a rollercoaster of ups and downs. When things are going well, they quit working. Pretty soon, the results begin to slip and they have to work extra hard to get back on track. For these people, business is always up and down. The key to success is consistency. Mark was right. You can’t fail, as long as you keep working. Success tip: Don’t focus on results. Keep your focus on positive, consistent effort and the results will take care of themselves. mindperk newsletter MindPerk One Minute Motivators - You Can't Fail! |

| Hello All, This is my first post - and I don't know if I am doing this correctly. I have been fascinated with the power of the mind for a long time - and the article below is one I had written recently. I hope I am doing this in accordance with the rules of warrior fourm. Have you ever watched the program - `Pawn Stars`? If you have, you may have noticed that those folks bring their individual l prize to a pawn shop, and they are immediately asked if they want to `pawn` or `sell` the item. Watch closely - and you will see that the great majority will answer - very tentatively - and you can almost see their lips shiver as they name a price - The price they name is spoken so meekly - that it all but invites the pawn shop operator to name a much lower price - and, from there they settle on a price . The interesting part to me is that the meekness which is so frequently- exhibited, as described above - is the way so many of us go through life: Meekly accepting the life's cards as they are dealt to us - and hoping against hope that somehow things will get better. Let me suggest something to you:
Do you know that there is - as you read this - a great - truly humongous - wave sweeping across the nation - INDEED, THE WORLD - that the rediscovery of the power of the mind - is the key to our life.. If that sounds too simplistic - remember the picture above of the person who walks into a pawn shop - and meekly, so very meekly in most cases - names a price for their treasure - and you can tell that it is far less than they really want - BUT ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT ALMOST ANYTHING Suppose you were to change that mental attitude - and instead of meekly asking for a small price - DEMANDING A FAIR PRICE - What do you think would happen? I think we both know - The self-esteem of the person would zoom - and the chances of getting a far better price - would also zoom How about if we went through life like that ?? Not meekly accepting what seems to be our lot - but instead DEMANDING MORE Your life will change once you REDISCOVER THE SECRET TO LIFE - Live Boldly.... Ron http://yourattitude.wordpress.com/ |

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it - as long as you really believe 100 percent. ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger |

"Whatever your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve." - Napoleon Hill And we teach our kids "if at first you dont succeed try and try again" and now my 3 year repeats it to herself if you trying to do something and finding it hard she also tells it to her 1 year old brother as he start trying all the new stuff that being a toddler brings about and it make me really proud to hear. We also tell that that you never give up you just find a different way I dont ever want my kids to think they failed so we also tell them they didnt fail they just found a way to not do something! |

One of my all time faves is from the movie 'Dead Poets Society' where Robin Williams' character quotes Walt Whitman: "That you are here—that life exists, and identity; That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse". Absolutely beautiful I think! |
