Hi PIPsters, If you have a blog and you come across a blog comment that looks like this...
It's a bot post. You can do a Google search for it and you'll find that many blogs have fallen for this well-meaning looking kind of blog post. To the top, Asher | |

Can I ask why you'd delete it? Is there a link or something? I'm confused.

Hi, Asher: I appreciate your concern and the tip, but I am wondering, too, what the concern is? If it's just a straight comment, what does it matter? GT ![]() |

I would delete it as well because it offers nothing in the way of meaningful content. It is obviously posted by someone who is hired to click on blogs and paste in a paragraph for the express purpose of getting a backlink for the person posting. I require that people commenting in my blogs at lease make reference to the content of the blog or the post itself to show it is a real person actually reading it before they comment. |

I second what Jeff said. I get a lot of these innocent looking comments and it offers nothing of value to the conversation and its probably done by a script. If the comment doesn't have anything to say about or ask a question pertaining to the post or blog then delete it. Even if not done by a script if they can't at least come up with something relevant to the post they are doing it for the link and nothing more. Make em earn it! |

Hi, That is so totally true. Some even tries to put an affiliate link on their comments! Thank you for the warning. Cheers, Jennifer |

Hi, Thanks Jeff and Jeff! ![]() You answered it before I could and better than I would have! This is another learning point for me - because I'm building a serious, genuine business blog with real content... and I use CommentLuv to give back some linking to the people who make comments. Why should I give any to a bot response post? And if your blog is filled with allowing a lot of these non-helpful comments with trackbacks to blogs which are basically bot-controlled... Well, all I can say is that it doesn't look good on you. Links *DO* matter because people check out links and they *can* judge you based on who you linked out to. To the top, Asher |

Awesome info Ash, Jeff and Jeff I already knew this but I think its important for newbies to get info like this and sometimes we can miss simple stuff like this unless its discussed reasonably regularly. I hope everyone has taken note! When your blog is new, you get excited just to have a comment but you need to look at all the factors and giving out free backlinks for nothing is not a good strategy! I give backlinks to people who bother to have something useful - even if they are just thanking me for the post but at least can make reference to what it was about! Then I even go as far as to personally reply to every reader whose comment I dont delete! thats builds a relationship with your readers! Kym |

I know it now. This is really a very good information for those who wants to blog. One thing that I am wondering. Why are there such useless comment being sent by people using a bot? What is the purpose to send comment by bots? Is there any benefits for the sender? Regards. |

If the comment sounds too vanilla and doesn't relate in any way to your blog, it's most likely spam. Great advice Jeff. I delete all those types of posts as well. Matt |
