Content in Websites
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi

I realise that I am getting similar content in my website to other PIPS realated websites (This is for home based business opportunity niches) . Is this not going to hurt my ranking chances, considering this is not unique content anymore, but duplicate content. Can I get that content before it is punlished to spin it a bit.

E.g. the last post heading was: "Benefits of Affiliate Marketing"

Thanx.
Karabo.

Hi Karbo,

You are welcome to do that and change anything on your PIPS site. Your rankings absolutely will be effected as every PIPS person gets the same content when they get their new website. Its the new owners job to "make it their own" by changing look, design, and content.

Take care

Hello, Karabo:

It's tough for new PIPS members to jump in and start modifying things on their new PIPS site, whether it is content, page elements, ads, banners or whatever. But as a the owner of the site it is both your privilege to make any changes you desire and it is your responsibility as a website owner (as Jeff has pointed out) to begin learning how to do those kinds of modifications as soon as you can.

I've been there and I can say it took me a long time before I started making changes to my PIPS site! Everything online was so new to me and I was timid about taking chances and making mistakes.

But the more you can learn about how your website works and how to make unique and personalized modifications, the faster your PIPS business will be able to move forward.

Working with content is the easiest place to start and it has great value in the long run. Your perception of the situation with unique vs. duplicate content is right on.

Very old version of the site you are using. You have also changed many things so I don't know what you mean by 'content' since any 'content' you have would need to be input by you through your blog (easiest).

You have a bare skeleton of what used to be a PIPS site - nobody has anything like you have on there and I never heard of 99% of the programs, etc you have on there - they are definitely not now and/or never have been PIPS programs (except SFI, etc) (which is fine too)

So - again - I don't know where you are getting the 'content' you are putting in your blogs????

The only people getting any 'content' from PIPS are those that pay for the upgrade for the newest version of PIPS - a one-time offer when they fill out the application - started a few weeks ago.

p.s. if you would like the latest version of the PIPS site I can give that to you with or without the free hosting we now offer. Please contact me through the Helpdesk (in my signature) with the following information.

PIPS ID
Domain Name
Wordpress username and password
cpanel username and password

If you want the new free hosting then I will give you instructions to change your DNS before I can make the changes.

** This would include PIPS programs only - you would need to add back your other stuff after the new version is installed. As long as there is no problem with your Wordpress files then you would retain your blog posts you have now.

Hi Patrician,

I realise you always come hard on me. I think Jeff and GT have understood me. The articles that are in my website are same as in other PIPS related sites. Like I said, the last post heading was: "Benefits of Affiliate Marketing". That is not put in by me. Jeff and GT also talk about making changes to your website and learning to do that. Yes I have made some changes and I am still learning. But I have taken the advise, I will try to work on the articles to make them unique. And when I have some cash I will try to get some services to change some designs.

Thanks

Karabo.

Hi Patrician

As you can see, even though I have changed the programmes, there is still SFI, I still have to decide on new programs, that came after I joined. The newsletter and auto responder system is still of PIPS. So I suppose I am still part of PIPS program.

Thanks again.
Karabo.

Karabo - as I said it is fine to have whatever you want on your website (other programs, few PIPS programs, etc) That is up to you. It is just that the sales page if you make a sale isn't going to give you much benefit if you are not participating in PIPS programs that are on there -

I think my point there was #1 your version is out of date and I would be happy to give you the new version;

and the main point is this:

#2 I still don't understand where you get the content from currently - I know with the Mega Site it came with a bunch of articles - I think I am confused by the statement " I realise that I am getting similar content in my website" - this sounds like you are getting some sort of feed or auto-submission(?)

Where is the content coming from that you are referring to? I am not aware that PIPS itself has anything like this but maybe I missed it? Or maybe you have a service from a co-op or TCD?

(By the way, I know TCD/co-op articles ARE unique - because they check the writer's submissions in Copyscape and the writers have to sign an agreement never to sell the same article to anyone else, ever).

... and I agree with Jeff and GT - you should edit any other articles to make them unique. (wherever you are getting them from otherwise)

Another point I would like to make is what I read at Google some time ago is that duplicate content doesn't hurt you, or "hurt your chances" -- it just doesn't help you much.

If I understood correctly, the first time something is published it gets a back link and from then on all other copies or duplicates of that are just ignored - so it isn't really hurting you, it is just not helping you much SEO-wise, although other than that people might enjoy reading it and come back again and maybe even join a program under you someday.

p.s. I didn't realize I was 'coming down hard' on you - that was not my intention at all. I was trying to help you. Sorry if it sounded like that.

Hi Patrician

Thanks so much for the explanation. I think my articles are probably coming from the co-op, because, like I said it is not only my website that has them. It is true that some people are already following my website to read them so i might upset some people if I stop them.

Thanks.
Karabo.

Hi Nahids,

I have written a number of articles, which I think can be useful to you. I have uploaded them on my PIPS site. You will gradually find yourself able to write good articles provided you are conversant with what you are writing about.

Hi Karabo,

I am glad that you have got all the good advice from a very good source of experienced forum members. All what you need to do is to follow the advice to make changes on your PIPS site.

Making changes is something you cannot do overnight as it is costly in terms of time, skill and money. What you need to do is to begin slowly and to consistently work on your site. Eventually, you will find yourself progressing well. For instance, you will have to develop your site with your own content and this takes time.

Recently, I changed the appearance of my PIPS site but after having worked on it to put new content for some time. Even mine was more less like yours, which I never wanted. I still have to develop it further. But to change the appearance of your site, you will have obviously to part away with some money. It's inevitable. You have to spend money to make money.

I would look at changing your keywords. Yes, this niche is highly competitive. I changed my keywords about a year ago....and I was ranked #7 on Google. It's slipped some, because I've been working on other projects...but still at #11.

Guess I better get busy again on my website and get back on Page 1.
