Hi everyone...

I was just wondering what you think will be the HOT niches for 2012.

I was reading a blog the other day, and they seem to think that "kindle" and "IPad" are going to be hot.

They look like a tough sell to me...showing over 1 billion in the SERPS.

I agree ipads are hot - phones are hot. Electronics always seem to be hot and being there is always so much innovation there, it will stay hot.

I just bought a new PC. The old fashioned desktop kind! I want a tablet or i-pad for emergencies but guess I will have to rely on my laptop as intended - I am all set for the emergency that never happens (thank God).

Yeah I got the monster - i7 processor, (latest generation Pentium) - 3.4 GHz, 1 TB HD, 8GB Ram.

Sweetest part (and the only one making it all possible) is: It's fully Tax Deductible as a self-employed home business TOOL! Supposed to be delivered on the 5th, and I can't wait.

Android Applications might be hot in 2012 since they were heavily pushed in 2011 to main stream marketing media. The iPads and Kindle are rushing to catch up.

A close marketing associate at BestBuy.com informed me that Sales Personnel were instructed to push Android Enabled Technology this past holiday season. That was exactly what was presented to me when I shopped for a tablet at the beginning of December. I walked into the store on two separate occasions and played dumb. Long story short.. Androids were the big push.

In my area the main internet and T.V. provider just made available an Android Application (Free) for the Apple Tablet.

I just took a quick look at Ipads and Kindles. They look a little to competitive for me. But again...I really haven't really looked at the competition.

I would say that e-readers are definitely a hot item. I heard on the news this morning that e-reader sales were high this past Christmas season and increasing numbers of adults are getting them.

The down side is that a hot item attracts all the marketers, so the competition becomes increasingly tough (unless a person is an experienced and talented sales person!)

The up side is that there are numerous manufacturers and brands of e-readers, so there are plenty to go around and a marketer has a choice.

If I am going to fight the competition, I might go the Ipad route. I think they are getting to the point of having an e-reader on them now.

Mobiles, ipad and kindle may be hot, but they are not easy ones and mostly saturated.

Those who does have 'hot' niches won't probably share them here.

But I guess for 2012, its going more and more towards the long-tail niches.

I can only go by what I saw before and after Christmas.

It seemed that there were a lot of high-def TVs and Blu-Ray players being sold. But, they did have some overstock left after the Holidays.

Agree. Mobile Apps are moving to Android Technology (AT).

BestBuy in my area sold more tablets with AT compared to all other tablets without AT. The iPad took a real hit! The point is.. when a new technology is introduced to an already high profit market and the new technology pushed the industry leader to second place in sales... what does this tell a marketer.. you better get hot on it!

The main benefit of AT is the Android Apps work on almost any mobile device. You can bet your booties that the iPad and Kindle are rushing to catch up as we speak.

The AT market is still very young and is in my opinion a hot niche for 2012. On the small end one way to make money is with 'review sites' and on the high end is with 'Android Apps'. Combine both and you created the foundation to earn for a very long time.

I would have to agree... everything electronic is huge! Especially Android and Apple related. They have been the last two years mainly because of the huge improvements and applications. People are focused on convenience now days and will buy anything that "makes their life easier." Think about it... all the things listed above (applications, tablets, Ebooks, mobile phones, etc) can make a persons life easier to manage. I recently bought an Android Tablet and love the ease of use it offers.

If you were looking to make a niche site I would say all these have been pretty over populated... but that doesnt mean they are still not the hottest. Maybe turn your direction off the product and more onto something that compliments the product. Focus on accessories for these as a suggestion. Some examples would be exciting cases (not the boring ones the stores carry), chargers, screen covers, headphones, stylus, etc. Yes, most stores carry this but people want something original, something new, and something different. If the competition is to large for these main items then think about what is related or compliments these items... usually have a better chance doing that. Accessories are just one of the MANY directions you could go with this.

Agree that 'android' and 'iphone 5' are hot niches. For electronic and computer niches, I think you always gotta be one step ahead (as in 'iphone 5'). By the time it become mainstream, its too late.

Noteworthy technological niches includes 'ipad 3', 'lte', 'solar power', '3d display'... read the news, you'll get some ideas.

I would say that it would be the travel industry. With the economy going bad in the US and around the world people are going to be traveling so that they can find places where they can ride out the storm.

I was talking to a fellow marketer about hot niches at present and we came up with a short list of niches that are consistently being promoted at present. And they seem to be targeting women. The obvious one is the weight loss products pills, powders, pre made meal programs, weight loss centers. There is still a lot of room in the weight loss niches for great affiliate sales.

The next niche is Income protection insurance, Health insurance, funeral insurance, prepaid legal, all being well marketed and their seems to be an increase in CPA promotions available with great commissions.

Another niche that is growing right now is the women's Bra market, the Ahh Bra, Smart Bra Miracle Bra are a few of examples that are selling well online and in mainstream media,

The dating market is doing very well and still provides high commissions for new clients on their affiliate programs. This market is a great one to segment down into small niches, "Short Men Looking For Tall Women", "Plus Size Girl looking for Skinny Guys" there are hundreds of potential key phrases with tons of traffic to generate sales from.

Another growing market is the elementary school education tutoring programs these have high price tags and high commissions because some of the programs are 2 - $4,000 the pay out could be as high as 20% that's $800 on a $4,000 sale.

There are no surprises here top niches will always center around health wealth and happiness.

Yeah, I agree with the positive Android app response. As good as Apple iphone is, Android out sells them. That's a lot of app selling opportunity.
Plus, there are more and more app development companies looking to develop your app ideas for reasonable money.

Traffic and List Building gets my vote. Every website owner needs it, whether they know it or not. I think that there's HUGE potential outside the Make Money Online niche for this.

Health products is always a hot niche. Mobile or electronic niche is just temporary hot and it would fade as time goes on but health products niche can stay up to a long duration.

I've really seen a trend moving toward software tools that make things easier for internet marketers like plugins. It's harder to break into for now, so this still looks to be a niche in its early stages. The higher end marketers seem to be offering more plugins with their courses. Anyone else noticing this trend?

Not a new trend here at the WF. I was selling software and WP plugins back in 2007. Custom software and wordpress plugins have been sold in the WSO Forum for many years.

I personally gave away one of my first WP custom plugins in a WSO as a bonus. It was so popular that many buyers said they bought the WSO just for the plugin.

iPhones, iPads, and also I would like say small local niches in your city and town. Find a dentist and show him how you can get him traffic from Google with in days because it will be alot easier. And niche does not matter here. Anyone agree?

Exactly. I don't understand OP's point...he just named couple of already well known niches. Or is this a game of who can name more of them? How about: how to cure hemmheroids, acne creams, premature ejaculation, facial hair removal, natural teeth whitening, learn Spanish online, baby strollers, sports betting systems… I could go all day just spewing out well known niches.

Sure they are profitable. But so are thousands of mini niches that you rarely hear about, yet they are highly profitable since competition is usually weak and you can easily rank high in search engines and they still have a strong consumer base.

For me the hot niches are in training... I am doing very well with WordPress and IM Video Training.

Lots of Newbies everyday who unlike many of us years ago, now have the luxury of actually getting some decent training and not have to stumble around for a year or so trying to piece meal everything together.

Plus, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like it did in 2002-2006 to get any sort of half way decent instructions. I remember in 2006 I paid over 1K for a training program, and now my video training for $27-$47 has more information. Many of my programs have video and PDF transcripts.

SO... internet marketing training and blogging geared to Newbie and Intermediate marketers are my choice for top niches (and if you do enough deep diving Keyword research, you'll find some awesome low competition, high search words and phrases).

I have been through an army of online and pc training including CompTIA Network+ (twice) in the past 20+ years in my career and now my encore career, all office apps several times through decades of versions...,etc.

... and I still think those guys in the butterly training were the best

Nice one, Jeffery - this is a great mystery shopper technique for anyone wanting to find out which retailers are overstocked on something - wait a couple of months to see the excess stock to be sold at close to, or even below, cost.
