I even got warned for starting a self promotional and including my affiliate link when it isn't even an affiliate link.

Twitter is a powerful and easy tool for increase your traffic!
But remember that effective marketing is realy about two basic things...
1.Marketing a product to people who already have a true desire.
2.Position yourself as an Alpha leader and a solution provider.
This is how recruiting goes from something you "do" to somthing that just "happens" because people want a piece of your solution!

Pardon me for my ignorance about Tweeter. But what use would it be to me being followed by 100s or 1000s of people who don't even know me? Is it like, "I follow you, You follow me"? For those you "follow", do you really care or read what they tweet, and vice-versa? Wouldn't a good message get drowned from the hundreds you receive in a day?

I don't believe we sign up under anyone in Twitter; I believe it is open membership. (Long-time Twitter members, correct me if I am wrong!)

Our Twitter page links are basically the Twitter dot com page along with our Twitter name. For example, twitter.com/gtbulmer:

I have no reason to worry about using this with twitter .....my followers are growing daily at the rate of around 15- 20 or more ..... if anything, I would say twitter would encourage it....you only need to visit their site to find tools you can use to make your own widgets etc. as well as the pre defined ones they have made for you.....so why would they frown on it?

Personally, I tried and it is working great for me. I went from 17 followers three days ago
to 70 followers today and growing. I haven't heard anything in that regard, and I don't feel it poses any violations. I think that a similar program that has a similar name, and sold for $189 was the one that was removed. But then again I could be wrong.

Looks like I joined at the right time - mainstream media are starting to highlight the "Twitter Phenomenon."

One of our regional television stations is doing a story on Twitter on Monday! They've been mentioning it the last number of days.

The way I get alot of followers is type a surname on the search for people box and check off everyone of them and they do it back to me. That is the best way. Every time you put in your entry blog like daily, keep checking of people on the people search as a follower and watch how many responses you get. There is another box that you can mass email people that are following you by typing in their email address and send the message you want no big mystry there

I am having scores of Twitter followings with little effort and this is what I do. I go to the search for people index and randomly type in a common last name or make one up in my head then type it in then click them all off as following. The other thing I do not do is try to make a sales pitch so often but post friendly conversation or stirring thought. It is just like opening the flood gates. They just keep pouring in. So now that this is happening I am getting ready to set up my blog page at twitter and prceed from there. I hope this helps everyone who would like to try a new method other than traditional guru methods. I am learning a whole lot of invative means quite quickly and will share as I go along

Other people are obsurving your following and the more you have the more will follow you. And you can keep feuling that by what I do. You can get their contact info and make friends with them talk about yourself do what ever you can to make them feel comfortable with you then gradually introduce then to Pips. There is a way you can email them in mass amounts to invite them to your blog or vidio seminar. make free offers, invite them to be a part of your social group such as face book and the likes. believe it works. keep posting there google and other search engines are listening and will index you in there system that way

Do as I am doing you will have no problem at all. You can invite them to other comunity network to chat with them such as squidoo and facebook

I'm with you on that one. Some people post a link to their site or affiliate site after every tweet. That's complete nonsense and considered spamming in my book. One out of five is okay, but not every single post!

I am not getting any spamming in the manner of the way I go about it just alot of hello's and high fives. I got frustrated with the whole way of not knowing how to do it and used some creativity. I have gotten alot of thnk-you's in return and do not contact each and everyone of them. I do contact some but never gave them a sale pit right off hand. I usually try to gain their trust and friendship first. What i mean about the links is to create more leeways to get the internet to notice my site. I have offers to connect to other peoples site in exchange to enhance my chances on the internet, I use this opportunity for net marketing but one thing in the way which I think I will take up with stone Is to make the websites more user newbie friendly like it is at the Warrior forum. I found a crafty and creative way to ecell in getting into the higher ranking but the obsticle is not knowing how to access my control panel on my website or know anything about it. I just learned to cut and paste and download pictures from my document file

Carline - FYI, Twitter won't help you get indexed in the search engines.

All links in Twitter are "nofollow" which is an attribute that tells search engines not to follow links. So backlinks and indexing are not Twitter benefits.

I think what works best is posting a mixture of personal updates, interacting with other people by asking & answering questions, and posting occassional interesting links/blog posts/articles. It is a social tool, rather than a direct marketing tool and it works best if you don't try to sell to people using it.

I agree Alan. For example if they are following 15,000 and have just 8 or 10 updates, I don't usually follow.

Suzanne is right, it will NOT get you ranked in search engines and directories by using twitter.
