Hi Vorales,

Wordpress is a hosted, free blogging solution just like Blogger. It is built on the Worpress.org software.
The very important thing to remember is that if you have a domain name in this platform it will always have suffix “*.wordpress.com”.

1. It’s FREE AND EASY
2. You do not have to find a hosting service or set up the Wordpress software on your own.
3. Wordpress will take care of the blog set up, backup, security and upgrades. Thus, you do not need to have any technical knowledge.
4. You can put up to 50 mgs of photos, powerPoints , etc.
5. You can post videos from YouTube, Google, and VodPod(beta)
6. They have one of the most boomer-friendly help documentation.

What is a blog? What is WordPress.com?

You can use the Wordpress script to run a blog on your own domain. Or you can register a blog at wordpress.com and your blog will be hosted by Wordpress as a subdomain, yourblogname.wordpress.com

Running WP on your own hosting has advantages as you'll be able to customize it. For example, you can't add Google adsense to a WP blog that's hosted at wordpress.com

Regards

Johan

If you are a Pips member already, you can host your blog on your own Pips domain!
I am finding wordpress to be really good - and easy to use!
There are heaps of themes(templates) to choose from so you can make it very individual!

Houdy at WordPress Max|WordPress Guides For The Geek Impaired has fantastic guides, videos etc to help you and he provides a good solid service to set you up or help you with your new blog. I recommend him highly.

I dont know anything about blogger!
But I do know that since I have been blogging I am ranking higher in the search engines and my site has been more thouroughly crawled, so more pages are indexed. Also' I am showing up on lots of different keywords now, as I have targeted my posts!

I say go for it!
My blog is done on wordpress.
Good Luck - Kym

Wordpress is a self-contained application that is setup and run on your hosting account. You control all aspects of the blog. And can even run an entire website with it: WordPress Powered PIPS WordPress Powered PIPS

WordPress is unlike Blogger where the actual script is controlled by Blogger. You can show your Blogger blog on your own site but what you are really doing is forwarding your Blogger blog URL to your sites blog URL and giving it permission to ftp the post pages to that blog directory. Blogger still controls the actual application or script and can still shut you down for no reason.

WordPress is the most popular, flexible and powerful blogging solution...

As I said above you can (and should) setup WordPress on your domain and it will have the URL of your site with what ever directory you put it in, or it can be setup on the root of the domain too. www.mysite.com/blog. There is no “*.wordpress.com” suffix if you do it that way.
