Project: Direct Sales
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi Folks,

Since participating here in the forum we have discussed Direct Sales and I have shared a few of my own sites that earn a reasonable income. Often, individuals ask me to personally teach them the process of building the sites and creating the sales system. As much as I would be happy to do that - I would rather get everyone involved, so that everyone can benefit.

I invite you to follow me as I create a new website (WordPress Blog) and interact with me and other members in this very thread. Please feel free to ask any questions you wish and more importantly.. there are no dumb questions, so don't be afraid or skeptical to ask questions.

Let me know if you are interested in this thread by getting involved please. Feel free to ask questions or leave comments as we all are here to help each other. Also, if I see no interest I will simply end the project.

First, I just want to touch base on a few important topics, so we all are on the same sheet of music.

1) The site we will build is not a 'get rich scheme' or a 'big earner'. However, all of my sites do in fact earn a measly $20 per month on average. Some earn much more.

2) The products are cheap, but good quality Private Label Rights Ebooks. On average my cost for the product is $10 or less when purchased as soon as it hits the market.

3) To keep the overhead as low as possible I recommend installing the site as an Addon Domain in your current Cpanel Hosting. That means you do not pay for any additional hosting. You do in fact pay for your own domain just like anything else, but again - you do not pay for additional hosting and this will keep your overhead very low year after year.

To sum up the process I am simply going to:

1) Purchase the PLR Product from a reputable and trusted source. This particular product is delivered with everything needed for a direct sale.
You can get your own copy here at the Warrior Forum and this is not my affiliate link:
http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-graphics.html

[X] Now that I have the Product.. I have something to sell.

2) If I wanted to I could quickly make the necessary changes to the Product and upload it to a new domain "As Is". That is what just about "Everyone" does. That is okay, but that is not what I do. The reason is simple.. such sites with such products are targeted at internet marketers. We are pretty much blind to such sites similar to banner blindness.

With that said, my experience is: Sales Are Typically Very Low. Also keep in mind the "Overhead" factor. We obviously want a low overhead.

3) Enter the Blog! This is the marketing tactic that pulls in internet marketers and Joe Public at the same time!

I short.. I am going to convert the Product from a sales page to a Blog. Why? Simply because a blog is easily updated to help with search engine traffic and this particular blog employs the plugins and widgets to create the Direct Sales System.. all nice and tidy!

Okay, that is enough for today and I want to get started. Here is a live site that I have already converted from a Product to a blog, so you can see the finished product:
Internet Marketing Mechanics Blog

Let me know if you are interested in this thread by getting involved please. Feel free to ask questions or leave comments as we all are here to help each other. Also, if I see no interest I will simply end the project.

Here is the site for your review:
http://myaffiliatesite.com/WP-Demo-Theme-Weaver-II-Pro/

Please keep in mind that the site is not finished at this time. However, the major work is finished. Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Here is a list of the main attributes:

1) This site was converted from an HTML site to a WordPress site.

Therefore all of the needed WordPress features are available to us such as:
Search Engine Optimization and no HTML knowledge required, etc.

2) The home page is a dynamic page that acts as a sales page with some pretty impressive features not found on many Sales Pages! The main difference is this is not a static page.

AutoPilot Posting! Posts excerpts are added to the home page on a scheduled basis!

That means we can schedule as many posts as we want to appear on the home page - this could be a few every week or one a day for a year! That is one way how AutoPilot marketing works.

The main benefit of the scheduled posts is SEO as the search engines determine a site's worth when new content is added on a frequent basis! Very powerful!!

3) The home page also has Comments which is optional. Another SEO incentive because it creates Visitor Interaction. How many times have you seen that on a Homepage/Salespage?

What's Next?
1) The sales system is next and we will be using eJunkie.com.

2) Pages of a type seldom seen on blogs and in high demand. The Big Blogs do it all the time because it increases sales like crazy. Lots of people in the WF are always asking how to do this, but few ever seem to know how to do it or make it sound so complicated that people just get confused. I'll show you how to set it all up in under 10 minutes.

The 'Sales System' is now in place and we are using e-junkie.com.

e-junkie.com is one of the very best online 'Sales Systems' used by webmasters and marketers to take orders and deliver the products. It takes less than 30 minutes to open an account, setup the product, and add the 'buy button' to a website.

[PayPal Process]
When a customer clicks the 'e-junkie buy button' they are transferred directly to PayPal for payment. Note: other payment processors are available in your e-junkie account if you do not want to use PayPal.

[e-junkie Process]
After payment the customer receives an email from e-junkie.com with the link to download the Ebook. Also, the link may be set to expire after x attempts. The default is 5 attempts. Your choice.

One of the main features I like the most is the option to resend the download link. This is handy when the buyer has problems such as browser crash, link expired, etc.

And of course there is a affiliate program for all of your products (optional) as well as listing your products in the e-junkie marketplace.

Now that the 'Sales System' is in place and everything is on AutoPilot we can focus on the rest of our business.

Pages of a type seldom seen on blogs and in high demand.
http://myaffiliatesite.com/WP-Demo-T...s-and-widgets/

This page has a separate sidebar that holds widgets that are not displayed elsewhere on the blog!

This is a page on the blog that a lot of people seem to think is not possible to do with WordPress. Really, it is just a matter of the using the right theme. And this only takes 10 minutes or less.

The objective is to create a page that offers a solution to a visitor's problem and sell the visitor a product that is the solution. On this page we will have only one article, one product advertisement and one opt-in form that may or may not be specific to the product, so we can segregate lists (optional).

All of this is done when you create a page or post. The options are simple check boxes that enable or disable the functions.

1) The "Layout" for this page is:
Single column sidebar on right

2) The Selective Display of Widget Areas for this page are:
Hide Sitewide Top Area Widget.
This means we move the opt-in form from beneath the logo to the sidebar on the right.

Here are a few elements I changed for this page:
+ Hide Page on the Primary Menu
+ Hide Info Bar on this page
+ Hide Entire Footer
+ Disallow comments

Note: Its is also possible to:
-> Use a different header altogether. My favorite! This means we may use different headers and logos on as many pages as we wish.. different products for different solutions.
+ Remove (hide) the header and the header meta

The end result is a dynamic page with a different layout compared to the homepage. And this is just one example as there are many different elements that may be added or removed at your preference.

[Conclusion]

This concludes the project and I hope you found it helpful.

Update: The demo site is now on a normal domain:
Infinite Sales Tips | 100 Tactics To Increas Internet Sales | Infinite Sales Tips

Subject: How to create pages with different headers

To illustrate how to create pages with different headers other than the home page header go to:
Its All In The List | Infinite Sales Tips

As mentioned in the previous post this is accomplished with the theme settings. I have created a PDF with an image of the settings here:
http://infinitesalestips.com/Its-All...e-Settings.pdf

Note that this page is a completely different product! Now, we have two products for direct sale on the same domain, the same WordPress installation, with different header logos and images.

Also, this new domain (InfiniteSalesTips.com) is an Addon Domain in the Host Cpanel. This means we do not pay for additional hosting! Keep in mind that we do pay for the Domain Name Registration which is normal. Low overhead!

I've always liked the idea of using sub-domains to host my additional websites. Lowers the overhead as you quite rightly mentioned.

However, I remember reading somewhere that Google Pandas and Penguins don't have a taste for this kind of thing.

Hi FreeLord,

There are differences between Add-on Domains and Sub-Domains. An Addon-Domain is just a top Level Domain assigned to your Cpanel Account. A Sub-Domain is a folder assigned to the Addon-Domain.

Yes, Google does frown on Sub-Domains, but only when the Sub-Domain is not relevant to the Top Level Domain. When the Sub-Domain and Add-on Domain (Top Level Domain) are relevant then Google and all search engines smile. Its a W3 Standard to be factual.

Here is an example of a Top Level Domain that utilizes Sub-Domains that are "Not" relevant and all search engines smile because it complies with the W3 Standard: About.com: Do more.
There are others, but about.com was once frowned on by "G" and became a wide topic of discussion among Internet Professionals in the 90s. It is even a topic of discussion in almost all higher levels of education.

For we Internet Marketers we are a different breed because we try to adhere to "G" policies for the sake of organic traffic and high placement in the SERPs. Some people make use of Sub-Domains the G way and do okay. Others do it wrong and they fail. Albeit the Gway.

The trick is to keep the Sub-Domain relevant to the Top Level Domain for all search engines and W3 Standards. Also, once you do your SEO research you will learn that sub-domains can contribute G Link Juice either positively or negatively. Its an old standard and an art in some cases.

For some time I was under the impression that one thing that makes a sub-domain sub-standard is the fact you can't use www. in the address.

Someone has recently corrected me - but wasn't specific as to whether somehow you could force www or whether it didn't matter.

I do know that we will not accept sub-domains for Plug-In Profit Site and will continue to reject applications where they request a sub-domain. I just don't think they have as much benefit - (Jeffery I am inviting you to prove me wrong) - I do get it about the sub being in the same niche as the top being ok - but I still just have a problem conceptually.

So I don't disagree it may not harm but I still don't think it is as good...

You would be amazed at how many applications i get for domains that already have sites on them. Hello? Can two houses have the same address? I don't think so.

God bless newbies...

Hi Pat,

I agree with you 100% about not installing PIPS in a sub-domain. To me that is ludicrous for a beginner. However, in the hands of a highly skilled server technician such as the blogs at cnn.com it would be okay. Then again the PIPS theme is not designed for it anyway.

Personally I do not care for sub-domains either because they really are not necessary for internet marketing. On the other hand if I was the webmaster for a site like about.com then yes I would use sub-domains.

In the days before Host Control Panels it was very difficult to host more than one top level domain in a users hosting account, so almost no hosts supported it.

Just to be clear for others reading this (Pat already knows this) a top level domain would be domain.com, domain.net etc and a sub-domain would be subdomain.domain.com, subdomain.domain.net etc.

Today, host control panels, such as Cpanel, do support multiple top level domains and there is no negative consequence to Addon Domains (top level domains) except that all top level domains will by default share the same C-Lass IP. This is normal and acceptable by all hosting standards.

The top level domains in the Cpanel account have no relationship and do "Not" interact with each other in any technical way at all except for the shared IP. However, there are non-technical issues that I personally do not like. One is the fact that all of the domains in the Cpanel can be scraped. That is not always in our best interest. Example would be that I might have two domains in a Cpanel wherein one is for an eCommerce Site and the other is for my credit card processor. The problem is if a scraper or hacks my Cpanel then the information is open to an exploit.

Same with forums. Some of my forums are not public and only specific individuals are allowed access. Hackers love to exploit private forums. The trick is to install the forum on a "Server A" inside a "Sub-domain" of a Top Level Domain and redirect to "Server B" being a different Top Level Domain. This is about the only time I make use of sub-domains :-)

Normal niche sites and adsense sites I highly recommend the use of Addon Domains. It saves a lot of money for hosting fees.

PIPS In a sub-domain ... "Never Ever" ... would I recommend a sub-domain. I agree with you 100%. Also, defeats the whole purpose of having your own business and imagine the SEO nightmare.

Hi Steve,

A static page is a page that is designed to never change or very little at all, i.e. no new content and in some cases the same banner advertisements rotating over and over. A dynamic page is designed to provide the visitor and search engines new content on a regular basis.

People spend money - not search engines. Visitors are more apt to return to a dynamic page where new content and fresh updates are added on a regular basis. This creates repeat visitors and potential for sales. Ask yourself.. would you visit the same site over and over when there is never anything new?

Search engines provide traffic (visitors). Search engines rank sites higher in the SERPS when new content is added to the site on a regular basis because the main purpose of search engines is to provide relevant content to visitors. A dynamic page serves that purpose.

This is a WordPress site for Direct Sales. You add the scheduled content in the WordPress editor. Add your content (articles) and schedule by date/time.
