I'm sunk....

Hey all ~

I haven't had even one sign-up, let alone even one lead! It's been just over a month, my 30 day free trial to GetResponse expired and I still don't have the cash to upgrade. This is really, very pathetic.

I was holding my breath when the renewals came up for The Empower Network and its affiliate fee!

As for SFI, I made $4.58 in the first month and a little over $12 the second month, plus I finally made EA2 and got two PSAs.

As for PIP? Nothing. I mean, Stone would be getting my commissions from the other programs besides EN and SFI because thankfully I didn't sign up for them.

My upline sponsors with both EN and SFI are awesome though. They've been giving me a lot of encouragement and tips for trying to get more free traffic. And I was on a webinar earlier this evening with Andy Jenkins and Don Crowthers for social media marketing, so I'm going to try those avenues too since they're all free.

The advertising & marketing budgets are DRY, aside from a $5 fiverr gig here and there.

We're struggling along as best as we can, along with literally - not figuratively - but literally here - trying to keep our house out of the hands of the bank! It's getting scary! It's so bad that I really couldn't even afford to pay for a second month of EN and absolutely am not able to buy into GetResponse.

I'm using the free version of Gary Ambrose's ListWire right now, but man, manually copy/pasting all those autoresponder messages??? OMG ... I wouldn't even know if I had the code right!

I'm going to copy them out of GetResponse though and into Notepad and then try to muddle through uploading them to ListWire. At least then I'll have some kind of an autoresponder available until I can upgrade to a more "professional" system.

Meanwhile, I have my bookmarks business up for sale so we can get an much-needed infusion of cash to keep us going. Hopefully that sells FAST!

So that's what's going on ... not really much of anything happening as far as referrals and sign-ups. It's rather disappointing, but then I haven't been able to fund all of the paid services that are suggested in the Training. And the free ways are very S-L-O-W...

I hope to have better news later though because I'm not giving up! I'm just on the S-N-A-I-L path for a bit yet...

Real sorry to hear about this, I guess there are so many people who have a real bad experience with internet marketing that they just about throw in the towel before they can even get going.

And then there are many who have the patience to stretch it out online in the hope that they will finally succeed - but then even they fail - for XYZ number of reasons. Very few people succeed online, of that it is quite clear. Sad!

Thanks Ric. I'm not giving up though. I really believe I can make this work; I just need some more time and hopefully I can sell my other business and get some cash in here too.

Deer hunting season is coming up so I have a lot of articles to add to both my EN blog and my husband's blog that should get a lot of hits.

I definitely have my work cut out for me by having to do this the long and hard way!

What do you do in the deer hunting season?

And what is an EN blog?

EN is The Empower Network blog. My husband is an avid deer hunter and he has a blog about deer hunting. So every season I try to find some fresh articles to write about that.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems! Although there's not much I can do to help you right now, I would like you to know that if you have any questions about GetResponse, I'm happy to help.

Good luck and hang in there!

The first thing is get off the Empower route. It is a pyramid that is bound to fall down. If you want some guidance by all means PM me. I am not trying to sell you anything I promise.

Hi k...

Just want to make a few major points that I hope will help.

Point 1) You may be blocking traffic to your sites because you are using URL shorteners which many of the seasoned Warriors will not click and Google started frowning on them this year. Even FaceBook has started to block all that have ".ly" so something to consider.

Point 2) When you plan to earn online and get involved in programs like EN that require heavy emphasis on Email Marketing you must have an autoresponder.

Your results after just one month are not bad considering it has only been one month. And Email Marketing takes more time to see results compared to traditional Article Marketing and other ways to market online. It is easy to get people to subscribe to a list, but much harder to get them open every email and even harder to convert them to paying customers. In that regard you are doing well with EN after only one month.

When you plan to earn online and get involved in programs like EN that require heavy emphasis on Email Marketing you must have an autoresponder.

Here is the cavet. If the autoresponder produced the results you wanted then I would keep it and continue what you are doing.

I remember when you first opened threads here there was some discussion about a .. plan. You kind of talked around it, but never nailed it. Of course many people keep a good plan close. With that said.. you know your plan and if you are making money only after one month.. I congratulate you.

To say "your sunk" is more of a mindset issue. All I can say is your doing things right.. making money even though it is not as much as you may have planned for. Also, bills piling up when you embark on a new venture does not make for a positive mindset. Just my opinion, but you are good at what you are doing given that it has been one month. However, given the financials I would not not spend any more money at this stage.

Jeffery 100% :-)

In the minute it took me to write this post.. someone died of Covid 19. RIP.

I don't get to see the actual action in real life either since I'm not the hunter. But to see the blog, just Google "Jim's Deer Hunting Blog" and it should come up in the first spot.

Wow! Thank you for pointing that out! I must have "missed that memo" somewhere along the line and I'll start not using them from now on.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any signups with EN at all. I've had a couple with SFI but those were from the CSAs I earned in the program, not from any advertising.

I don't know if it is actually. I'm going to try Listwire again; I have an opt-in form on my PIP blog now and so I'm going to do a work-around and copy/paste the autoresponder messages from GetResponse into Listwire.

Thanks. :-) I'm kind of doing what my immediate upline sponsor with EN suggested, which is along the lines of a Tony Robbins thought - toss several ideas into the bucket and try them all. The ones that have the most success, keep doing them. The ones that don't, toss them and try some new things.

So that's my approach right now, my "plan." I've mainly been doing articles and video. I recently joined FansFlood to start building up a list on Facebook and added an Opt-in box to my fan page too. I have on my "To-Do List" to do some guest blog posts and a "crapload" of backpage ads. Forget craigslist. Even fiverr people aren't posting there anymore. :-/

But my "plan" is really to try a whole bunch of free things at once, as many as I can, in an orderly fashion of course, and then I can narrow it down to what works and what doesn't and devise a new schedule from that. And on that note, I've added more social media marketing into the mix. Something will work eventually! And it may only work for a little while and I'll have to change tactics again.

That's the tough part about IM; the whole landscape is always shifting!

Exactly. I have to get back to Tony Robbins' Challenges again. I downloaded the entire series - free from YouTube - and I need to finish those challenges.

Thanks for all of your insight Jeffery!! Much appreciated!

Hi Jim!

I toyed around with GetResponse way back in 1998 not long after it was launched. I was on Simon Grabowski's email list back then too. The only question right now is - finding the money to pay for it!

I don't see EN as a pyramid scheme at all. You're paying for a legitimate service and you're compensated for referring others to join too. It's a standard network marketing/affiliate program that pays you a net 75% commissions. Just because it's "new" doesn't mean it's shady.

I'll tell you what I get out of it in listening to their Monday calls - it's a genuine way to earn a solid income based loosely on the "Amway" train of thought, which is also pure network marketing, not a pyramid scheme. (I used to sell Amway back in the 70s and it's still going strong!)

Actually, it's no more a pyramid scheme than Watkins', Avon, or any other network marketing company out there. It's just that it's based on blogging and selling a service, not an actual physical product.

My take on The Empower Network is that it's a very brilliant concept! I'd been watching it for a few months, watching video after video, and I was right on the brink of signing up when I saw that Stone Evans was adding it to PIP. And to me, if Stone Evans, who's been around the industry for decades, considers it prime enough to add to his streams of revenue, then it's got something to it.

Just my opinion.

I'll have to be quick in response to your post, as I'm off out in a minute!
You need cash very soon correct...?
IM takes TIME before the $ start rolling in.

However, if you're comfortable talking with people face to face - get into the offline biz, of course it also depends on what marketing experience you have - to offer the biz owner.

Just my 2cents worth, GOOD LUCK...

Thanks Robert! I know IM takes time, especially when the advertising and marketing has to be done with free and near-free resources. It's a real bear. ROFL

And while I've thought of doing offline stuff, I'm at home full time due to a medical disability and I'm not anywhere near comfortable talking to friends, family or even acquaintances about business stuff in a "marketing" sense. That's not up my alley, which is why I stopped selling Amway waaay back in the day.

I just keep blogging and I also scan craigslist gigs for other things I can get my grubby little fingers on with my computer to bring in some cash. LOL

Kay

I do understand that 'sinking feeling' ("I'm sunk") but really, lady, you need to shake it.

So much of this is about mindset and you came in such a short time ago all bubbly and exuding positivity!

You made my day that day and I said "Future Star" - and today? boom.

Do something to psych yourself up - go take a walk in the park or at the beach - breathe some nice air and look at the grandeur in the small things - 'smell the roses'.

Believe me I can be as negative as lead. But I have learned a little about NLP and from people like Stone - no matter what the negative is just replace it by a positive - thought - action - whatever - get rid of it before it takes over and kills your motivation and causes you to quit before you give it a realistic chance!

Example: X Y and Z sucks

Stone: A B and C rocks!

Well, be glad you're not there anymore; they did you a huge favor, because what's there now is a complete travesty and an insult to the name AMERICA. A bunch of us on Facebook are banding together and we will not rest until there is no more BOA and some of the higher ups are sitting in jail!

Kay,

PIPSters call it PIPS (plural) - not PIP (singular)

One of my best tips for making money online is the autoresponder. For instance, Stone said quite bluntly about EN "not for everyone... and ...for people that already have large lists." That one remark, when he added EN to PIPS, should have rang bells with PIPSters. I was surprised that so many people missed it.

What I am trying to say is programs like PIPS, EN, and SFI require list building. Internet Marketing without an autoresponder for these specific programs earns your business little to nothing. Take Tony Robbins methods for example. Starts with an advertisement directed to a website with a call to action and followed up by emails and webinars. See the formula in that simple statement? What drives it.. what closes the deal.. the follow up > A U T O R E S P O N D E R.

You, like many of us, are the victim of an autoresponder Kay LOL. Join the club. Saying that to make you smile Kay.. and maybe.. you will read between the lines? We IMers gotta luv it

PIPS - sorry about the missing S earlier. ROFL

Yes, I know all about autoresponders and their importance, absolutely. But it's also like a catch-22 when you think about it.

You need an autoresponder to make money.

You need to make money to afford the autoresponder.

It's like this old analogy: I need a job but I don't have any experience, but how am I going to get experience without getting a job?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Which is why to get started I've added my free listwire opt-in to both my PIPS blog and my Facebook Fan page, and I'm going to work on copying the autoresponder messages out of GR into LW so I can get started on building this all-important list.

We all have to start somewhere and if you're starting on a less-than-shoestring budget, there are some free services out there to get you up and running, Gary Ambrose's Listwire being one of them.

Now, as for EN and red flags and all that stuff - same thing. EN has an autoresponder that it will use for you if you're not able to buy into either AWeber or GetResponse immediately. That's right in their initial training as a basic member. Why? So people who either have no experience with autoresponders or people who have no extra cash FOR the autoresponder can still get started in the business.

I didn't take anything that Stone said as a "red flag." I took it as, well, it's just another obstacle that I'm going to have to find a workaround for. But I personally feel that now is the best time to get in on EN while it's still new and on the ground floor.

I also have a great upline sponsor at EN that's given me some spectacular ways to work around not having an autoresponder and not having the ready cash to run out and pay for everything.

So I'll muddle through and I'll get there, and like Patrician said, I've gotta shake it up! ROFL

What confuses me is you are saying you need to make money (subscribers), yet you are going to allow your autoresponder to send your subscribers to another business that you have no control over? Why are you doing that?

Red Flags? I never said there were Red Flags? Sorry if my comment indicated anything remotely close to Red Flags. Stone's comment was completely honest and transparent, but not a Red Flag.

EN is not new Kay. An older company with a new business model. All in all it is for the better. Still, as big as my list is I never promote opportunities. For that reason I have never had to change my companies name or business model.

Wish the best,

And while I've thought of doing offline stuff, I'm at home full time due to a medical disability and I'm not anywhere near comfortable talking to friends, family or even acquaintances about business stuff in a "marketing" sense. That's not up my alley, which is why I stopped selling Amway waaay back in the day.

I just keep blogging and I also scan craigslist gigs for other things I can get my grubby little fingers on with my computer to bring in some cash. LOL
ksmusselman, sorry to hear about you're medical disability.

You mention you can't aford a paid autoresponder service yet...
Well how about mailchimp...it's FREE !

I setup/used it a couple of years ago for a clients website - who was giving away a free report in exchange for prospects contact details.
It worked OK, however this was for a small biz owner who was unlikely to get more an a few hundred prospects to dowload his free report.
( I think the limit is 1000 sign ups)

It's worth checking out, link below:

Yes, I have free accounts with MailChimp and Listwire. Right now I'm using Listwire.

No signups at all yet for anything, but I'm remaining hopeful!! I'm trying to do more video and social media marketing, so that's where I'm concentrating some of my efforts right now. Both are relatively free since I use all free programs to develop everything. And there's a fiverr gig that will blast your videos out through Traffic Geyser for $5.

So that's my plan of attack now. Write at least one blog post every day, trying for two or more actually, on both EN and PIPS. Post the article to ideamarketers.com and do social bookmarking with them.

Then create a video out of the article, post to YouTube and send through Traffic Geyser.

One thing I have noticed recently on my traffic stats is that people are actually starting to search Google by my NAME. I'm hoping that's a Good thing! ROFL

Oh, you are so right, Jeff! I slid by Panda with all of my sites, then Penguin did double whammy and I've been de-optimizing a lot of my pages since then. They're all starting to come back up and now and I'm seeing an increase in traffic.

But you are correct; perseverance, hard work and a thick skin or you're never going to make it!

Hi KSMusselman,

I know exactly where you are coming from. I found myself not wanting to give up but not wanting to keep paying the monthly fees either. I have a lot of time on my hands & so i eventually found away of earning a guaranteed income on the net by surfing traffic exchanges/ reading emails/ viewing ads etc. I'm up to around $100 per month now & so have covered my costs & have a little left over for advertising & so i can afford to be much more patient Re referrals etc.
If you want to know what i do please pm me or email me liamwoolfenden(AT)gmail.com as i don't want to post links here

Great points and advice.

You're doing the right thing by not giving up with your action steps. Don't allow yourself to be discouraged with your choice of words. Instead, I'd take at least a half a day relaxing. Somewhere where you won't be disturbed with no other obligations.

Then take your time writing down all the things you know how to do, on a piece of paper. This will help get your mind focused on more positive affirmative action thoughts.

Your mind works best when you're relaxed and it's in a positive state. Telling yourself things like "you're sunk" doesn't help.

Everything is temporary. No situation is permanent.

Kay,

Since you are a member of PIPS, I assume you are also a member of GVO Host Then Profit, with your hosting. Your hosting package with GVO has a free autoresponder attached to it (or bundled with it, if not free).

If you need an autoresponder for your list building and email marketing, then why not just use GVO's autoresponder service?

It's cheaper than GetResponse (or no additional cost to you if you are already a member of GVO with your hosting), and it is certainly much better than the free autoresponder ListWire offers.

I have seen ListWire, you'll risk losing a lot of prospects there because the landing pages are filled with competitor ads. I think, you'll better off using GVO's. It's a good alternative to GetResponse'. It's the one I'm using right now.

What do you think?

Turn your passion into profits.

What I think is that the Plug-In Profit Site is built around the Getresponse autoresponder. All the links are for that system.

We do not support or recommend any other autoresponder including GVO.

(we love their hosting but that is the only GVO service required for Plug-In Profit Site)

While the sky won't fall if you prefer to ignore my advice it will be quite tedious for you to copy all the messages one by one and re-code your web forms.

In Gomer's case he is really not participating in Plug-In Profit Site.

Thanks Grant! And you are so very correct.

We took an extended weekend vacation for Labor Day to my stepson's wedding - out of state for five days! We had a blast; I now know what it feels like to drink almost an entire bottle of Irish Creme by myself. ROFLMAO!!!

I then took another two days after we got back home to regroup. In the last couple of days I wrote three solid articles/blog posts and I working on some other ways to simply Blog for Traffic!

I have two people I'm strictly following right now for help in blogging and generating more traffic and my bookmarks site is really moving back up in rank too - I really have to sell that thing though...

So my new plan is to "meld" two plans of attack into one, using the best options from each, and my new motto, which I'm even "preaching" to my SFI downline is to ...

DO SOMETHING EVERY DAY.

One of the somethings I'm working on is a short video course I'm going to give away as a freebie incentive for opt-ins.

Oh, and in my traffic stats, the concept of "Being Everywhere" (Pat Flynn, Smart Passive Income) is starting to mean something ...

People are searching for me BY NAME! i.e., 'ks musselman posting on craigslist,' 'ksmusselman bank of america,' 'ks musselman xxx'

It's weird seeing people actually doing searches for ME.

So yes, I'm hanging in there. We did as Tony Robbins suggests ... Change Your Environment. And that helped to clear some things up.

Thanks everyone!!!

Thanks Patrician. I wondered about that. To be honest, the only thing I've been using the PIP blog for is to promote SFI and The Empower Network. If people sign up for GVO or Traffic Swarm or any of the other things that are on there, cool, Stone will make some extra bucks off of me. LOL

I'm actually involved with a separate free group that comes with a free autoresponder for promoting EN. My upline co-sponsor hooked me up there. So the posts I do on the PIP blog have links to the free group with the free autoresponder to bypass the EN autoresponder.

As far as promoting PIP specifically, no. I don't have the cash yet to buy into GR or AW so for PIP and EN, I'm having to find "work-arounds" for that, ListWire being one of them, but I'm only using that just to build my own list. Not that that's happening either but hey... I never was very good at building lists so that's no surprise there.

Meanwhile back on the farm ...

I did ... And I'll be doing a post on my own blog about my experience with it.

I also cancelled my PIPs account since I only signed up for the SFI and EN, and I'm reworking EVERYTHING in my new blog.

I "exhumed" my old domain name, which was sitting on my account pointing to the PIPs blog, and I'm "starting from scratch."

And speaking of "starting from scratch," this webinar (and this is NOT an affiliate link) I was sent the link to is exceptional if you're just starting out. And without saying so, it really explains WHY you should not be blogging on someone else's platform - i.e., EN.

How To Start From Scratch with Jeff Walker

So right now I'm focusing strictly on SFI and my own blog about working at home; I'm in the process of setting up my Listwire autoresponder messages with some email series, and getting the slides ready for my own video landing page for the email opt-in.

So - I may have dropped out of PIPs and EN, but I have not dropped out of network marketing or IM. I still LOVE the SFI business. I made more with that than I did with EN and with a fraction of the monetary investment!
