Wordpress Site
Share on:

Hi,

My knowledge is very limited on Wordpress or HTML and I have a PIPS site from 2 years ago which I have never changed, and I'm looking to move forward with it.

Is the latest standard PIPS website powered by Wordpress?

How can I get an updated standard PIPS site?

What is the difference between a Wordpress website and a Wordpress blog and are
they both easy to add or change content - do either involve HTML?

Thank you.

Karen

Damn, I just wrote a long post about the benefits of Wordpress over a standard HTML site and it somehow got deleted when I published it.

Anyway to summarize as I don't have time to rewrite the entire post. Wordpress has RSS, commenting, huge SEO benefits such as auto creation of meta tags, easily manage title tags, plug-ins to allow you to heavily interlink your pages and social bookmarking features.

Thousands of other plug-ins to allow you to easily add additional functionality to your site http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

It is also much easier to add content, it's like having your own desktop publishing software for your web site. Like in the case of the site I have built for PIPS, thanks to widgets, you can drag and drop things to your sidebars without having to edit the code.

Darrin offers a Wordpress install which matches the default PIPS theme http://www.pipsitehelp.com/megapipcreatewp.html. I also offer a service which you can find in my sig. You can also have a go at installing it yourself it's not difficult at all, the value of using Darrins or my own is that I have spent a huge amount of time adding plug-ins and customizing the site and for someone new to Wordpress you would basically times that by ten. You just have to add content and start building back links and thats it.

All the best,
Mike.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your help - I've had a look at your WP 2.0 site and I think it looks great.

I've just got a few questions:

I've got Host4Profit - would it work with that?

Would the programmes on the WP 2.0 website include Success University and H4P?

Does it come with the PIPS content? (What I mean is - is it ready made or do you need to copy from my PIPS Website).

Are there any directions on how to use the functions or do we just find our own way around. If it went badly wrong (meaning I mess it up) is it easy to get it back to normal?

All the best.

Karen

Karen,

I am not familiar with the Wordpress part as I do not use that aspect. I do know some HTML and am learning, so I edit my site manually.

However, as far as fixing it and returning it to normal, I recommend you ALWAYS make a backup of your site.

This is always a good practice of any webmaster, especially if they are actively making changes and updates to the site.

Making a backup is usually very easy. You'll have to get instructions for your hosting service as mine is different. I got HostGator before they stopped using it.

I hope someone else can better help you figure out how to do it, but I can say that it's not that hard.

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry about what happened to your post.

I hope you could still find the time to re-write and share that post with us. It would be a great topic for discussions here.

Thanks.

Hi Karen,

Yes it works with H4P however the automated upgrade features do not work unfortunately, although I believe H4P are working on a fix for that. This is an incompatibility between Wordpress and H4P it's not something specific to my WP-PIPS 2.0 site. I will also be working with H4P to resolve any other issues that may arise.

Yes I will put SU back up, I have H4P on there it is under internet warriors. I purposely haven't linked to the sites individually to try and send as much traffic as possible to the PIPS sales page.

Yes it comes with all of the content which you see on my own site. What you see is what you get basically.

I will be providing full support via my forum and training as well as Skype instant message support so you won't be on your own.

Cheers,
Mike.

Mike,
Actually the automated update feature is working well with H4P. The problem may be the default setting for the file permission of H4P to your every file.

I was having problem with the automated update too. I had another blog which is not functioning well. After that, I did a testing on Apache Friends-XAMPP and all the upload and automated function is working well on it so I try to figure out what is the difference between my testing Apache Friends-XAMPP and H4P. I found that the file permission for both are different. So I try to find out and change the file permission for all the files needed to give more permission and it all function well now. I can upgrade using my WP automated upgrade. It is very easy.

I just found this is the problem causing unable to use the function now. Maybe yours are another problem. Hope you can discover what is the problem and share with us.

Cheers
