Well we will see Alan. I know guys like Lance Winslow, Sean Mize and Fabian Tan all have short 2 line resource boxes. I call that a clue. Good post!

Hi Jeff, Yeah, I'm not sure if I would have a 300 word resource box as that seems a little extreme, but some seem to find that it's working. Only time will tell. It makes for good discussion nonetheless. ![]() |

Yes it does. It has always been interesting to me that Chris Knight, the owner of EZA, preaches long interesting resoruce boxes. Yet the authors who have submitted the most articles use very short direct resource boxes designed to get the click.

Great info Alan. Thanks for sharing. I think Im just gonna keep on doing what Im doing until I notice a difference then I will make the change. That would be weird to see a resource box longer than the actual article. Someone should try it and let us know how it works. Matt |

I like the short boxes myself. It seems that you get too much information and it sends people away. I like short and sweat. I do agree that it my be better to keep your articles close to the 250 word minimum as it is faster and some times easier to write. And again short and sweat. Thanks Alen for the article and it gives me something to think about. Bright Blessings The Tiny1 ![]() |

I use short bio boxes with great results. I've seen writers use several testimonials in their bio boxes. Something to test as well. Franck |

All I really want to know is that when or if you guys were to outsource your article writing do you create your own titles and resource box or do you leave it in the hands of the writers? I have a feeling that writers don't really care if you have a catchy title that targets multiple key phrases, or a benefit filled summary, or a Resource box that gets High CTR.. I've been debating whether or not I should just do my own titles and resource box and leave the content to the writers.. Any thoughts or suggestion on this? OH and if your resource box is longer than your article body then it won't get accepted. or if it's half the size of your article body it won't get accepted. |

Well obviously you can have a resource box longer than the article for EzineArticles. That's the whole focus of the post here. Of course I've never done it, which is why I wanted to get other opinions on the subject.

This is definitely a break with the traditional approach. The feel of it is more like a mini-sales page with a subtle promotional flavor. I may test a few options for longer treatments in some of the second and third tier directories.

Hi, Sometimes I focus on "catchy" titles and sometimes I just target my keywords that I am aiming for in my title. I keep it short by sweet... Take care Jeff Casmer |

Thanks for the post Alan. With the co-op posting articles for our member’s to EzineArticles.com it is important we keep an eye on how these changes impact traffic and views. Our member’s articles so far this spring have had more than 30,000 views and growing. Dustin Heath - EzineArticles.com Expert Author Bio If we see a decrease we may modify our resource box or content to see how it goes. Jeff has a great point about catchy titles. I learned the power of catchy titles one day while shopping at Wal-mart. I happened to notice a Cosmopolitan magazine on the rack as we waited to check out and I will tell you that one of the titles on the cover hypnotized me to the point I could not help but open it up and find out what the deal was. Seriously, check it out sometime. They are the masters of titles that draw in readers. Thank you. |

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here on the issue. I'm certainly curious to know how it's affecting others, so thanks for sharing the results of your members. Catchy titles are indeed important, and maybe the most important element of the entire article. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look the next time I'm at Walmart. Maybe I'll get hypnotized too! ![]()

You can see prior covers of that magazine here... Cosmopolitan Cover Gallery- Cosmo's Past Cover Girls - Cosmopolitan.com I have been considering writing article titles that copy their title concepts and modify to my own articles. Titles like the following might really get attention ... "Add This One Thing To Your Website And Double Your Sales" "Dirty Little Tricks That Will Make You More Money Online" "8 Things On Your Website That Are Costing You Sales" "The Trick That Makes People Join Your Business Everytime" You get the idea. |
