Can anyone tell me why my host4profits stats show an average of 30 to 40 hits to my website per day and stat counter which I have put on all my pages only shows 1 to 3 visits a day. I always thought it strange that host4profits stats showed 30 or more visits a day from day one of setting my site up. Are they trying to make us feel good with inflated visits or what. Thanks if someone can shed some light on this Phil |

Your host4profit stats are also showing every visit you make to the site. But then, maybe the other stats are doing the same. Either way, I'd install Google Analytics if you want an accurate record of your stats. It's very handy and easy to install.

Hi Phil, Go to Google Analytics. If you don't already have a Google account you'll have to make one. Then, just follow the instructions to install the code. |

Statcounter is much more accurate than the Webalizer stats on the Host4Profit sites, but you need to ensure that you install the statcounter code on every page on your site otherwise the stats will not be accurate. Google Analytics is good too and I would say that it is no more or no less accurate than statcounter, but it does present the data in a different way. I use both, but it is a personal preference. The problem with the Webalizer stats is that it doesn't seem to be able to track unique visitors very well, often counting multiple page loads by the same visitor as multiple visitors. Nor is it able to keep track of the keywords that are used very accurately. It's ok if you just want a general high level indication of your progress, but not if you want to dig deeper. Cheers, Suzanne |

Hi Suzanne, Thats my problem. For example today and yesterday show no visits at all by Stats Counter, but the host4profits stats show an average of 35 hits as it calls them for the same period and I had not visited my site at all so its not me. Anymore suggestions Thanks Phil |

Hi Phil, from what I understand things slow a bit in the summer - less people inside. So although our stats are important if you have it set up as Suzanne and Alan suggested, then you want to work on getting the backlinks established. I have seen a drop in my numbers as well, but I decided I'm only going to check them once a week now, because I was obsessing about the changes in the numbers. Instead, I am focusing all of my efforts on article marketing and blog writing. The numbers will come, just be patient. Hope the helps Mark |

Hi, Phil: On days when I am making changes to my site, adding pages, updating blog info, etc., my H4P stats shoot way up! The rest of the time they sit at a similar figure from day to day. My Statcounter and Google stats run very similar to each other ... but they are substantially lower than the H4P stats. GT |

Hi Phil, Thats a good point by GT. Dont get fooled by those stats specfically on days your working on your site because obviously they are inflated.... I know new people watch their traffic stats very closely but practice good traffic generating techniques and in the long term you will always be happy looking at your stats Take care Jeff Casmer |
