Share on:

Hi Guys,

Apparently, my domain name needs renewing and I haven't the slightest idea of how to do that.

Can someone please point me in the right direction? Many Thanks!

If you got it through Host4Profit, just contact their
support, they will help you out!

Just go here and then click "Online Support Form"

Host4Profit Online Support

Their support is second to PIPS (Pat)...

Hope this helped,

yeh, what Bill said.

You can check to see who your registrar is and the expiration date at Search the WhoIs database.

Don't shine your expiration date, your site will be down and worse someone can come up and 'steal' your name (and your momentum with it)

Thank you both for that. Host4profit was very fast and I have already gotten it taken care of.

Oh and Patricia, I never thought of it that way before but you're so right. And you know how my luck goes.... hehe. In fact, should we delete this thread?

Why delete the thread, it may be a warning to someone else. As long as you are safely registered, "Host4profit was very fast and I have already gotten it taken care of.", where is the risk?

Glad you got it sorted! Your luck held out this time!

It is such a hassle once you let it expire beyond a certain time, they can make you wait over 30 days before you can buy it again - yet at the same time, some domain 'auction' site may be able to put a hold on it and charge you 100x more to get it back -

Yes, I have heard those horror stories! I've heard of legitimate sites with respected names being snapped up after expiry by marketers with purposes of extreme ill repute. You don't ever want to get a phone call or email from a friend or relative saying, "I just clicked on your website and I can't believe what's there!"

Renewing a domain name well before expiry should be on everybody's priority list.

I sure appreciate this post. I have yet to consider renewing my domain name since it hasn't even been a year yet, but seeing all the potential work I've put into my website just go up in smoke would be devastating. I think it's a good idea to keep good records on everything related to our PIPS business so I am going to add the renewal date into my record keeping as a constant reminder so as to not suffer the consequences mentioned here!

You should be able to get a warning email that your domain name is expiring. Most hosting account have that facility.I found out the hard way and had to pay Namecheap $200.00 to renew one of mine.

Hi, Bob:

That is an excellent idea! I keep notes and reminders like that on important things, too.

A person should receive a renewal notice ahead of time, but with the problem today of spam mail and blocked email, I think it is always best to have a back-up plan so a person doesn't get caught with their pants down.

Hmm. Thinking of that, have I ever told the story here in the WF about how, last month while visiting one of my daughters, I was "home alone" working on some home renovations when I triggered the house alarm that I didn't know was activated?

I don't know who was more surprised ... me with only my pants on ... or the two police officers who quietly arrived with their guns drawn! (I thought it was hilarious ... afterwards.)

You can go to Whois.com - Domain Names & Identity for Everyone or .net - not sure - it will tell you who owns it - don't let it expire you will lose all of it.

I lost track of when mine was due - it expired - worked 10 years on it - had 21,000 links to it when it expired - have not recovered from it yet.

Sorry about bringing an old thread back from the dead.

But XD. That's hilarious.

I once called the cops thinking someone was trying to break into my house because I heard a muffled voice.

Turns out it was my bob the builder talking doll sitting on my book shelf. And the batteries were running low. "I collect Bob The Builder Toys"

I was a bit embarrassed when the cop said here's your burglar as he holds him up for me. But we had a good laugh. He said he'd know that voice anywhere as his son has one of those dolls.

He asked me if I wanted him arrested. lol I told him no. I don't think I'll pursue the charges.

During the Grace Period, all services cease working until the name is renewed. As well, name server/DNS changes are not possible. When the domain expires the DNS is temporarily changed, and a web page explaining the need for renewal may be shown.

Maybe you need a new domain name, check your keywords and then analyze it using Google tools. If you find a domain name just expired, do not miss it:p

Never let your domain name lapse as it amazing how fast some one can get it. I have seen that happen to a business here and he is devastated. Usually you will receive an email to let you know that in approximately in so many days you must renew your site.
