In my experience (and testing), I get a better click through rate based on the links being in the left sidebar. It has something to do with people naturally reading from left to right.

Do exactly that. Buy one domain, make a 20+ page site and when you start to generate some income, buy another domain, build a 20+ page site, etc., etc. Reinvest your profit in your business to scale...
