Are you the original owner of the domain? If you bought it, it's possible that the previous owner did something to give the domain some "bad juju" with Google and you'll have to regain trust again.

Exact match (keyword) domains will ALWAYS help you rank for the target keyword, even if Google decides to lessen the weight they're given.

I've been using them for years, and probably always will.
