As an FYI to other folks reading this, be aware that some trademark holders can
sue rather than just send a C&D letter, although the latter is the more common
and practical way to resolve...

Depending on the trademark holder, they might or might not pursue it further. I
wouldn't want to be the first to find out unless I can maybe afford it, though.

This is just a curiosity thought, and don't do it without real legal advice. But I wonder what would happen if you just cancelled the domain, just completely dropped it so that you don't own it...

I would take the track that that's them getting your bank info so in case they sue you they know where your money is so they can get it.

No, you should forget about the $75 and transfer the domain to them as quickly as you can and thank your lucky stars if they don't decide to give you MUCH bigger headaches than $75 is worth.
