I learnt this lesson in the past. Always do a 1-2 minute test recording before you start any serious video recording. Things like this happen from time to time but if you do the test recording first...

You have to invest in a top of the line mic, nothing worse than static noise in a video, especially after you spent 5 hours making them :D
