We don't buy them exclusively from Godaddy...but the concept is the same, and we do get a bunch from Godaddy...they do go from the owner, back to the registrar...then to us...so I'll have to check...

We did a study on this involving 200 domains and a year's worth of data (in a few cases 3-4 years worth)

content and registrant information didn't matter at all...only thing that had an impact was...

Just as you can redirect and pass authority so can some dishonest sellers. Check the backlinks, but even then sometimes you can't tell if it's faked/redirected or not. If it is don't be suprised if...

I use them and they work. If you do a 301 re-direct it will pass the authority to the site your pointing to.

And that's how I generally use them. But if I can find a domain that fits for a niche...
