Ive looked for answers to this question for a while now as i do not do web coding or anything but i would like to know what a website is capable of doing. An example would be chat roulette. it offers a free video to video service, but what else can sites do.

If anyone has any examples of business which are run in a similar format. (i.e.) traffic is directed to the site, the user is entertained there for a while via a application of some sort, weather its a random generator for words or a game, or chat roulette.

I hope someone understands what I'm asking.
