In WordPress you need to use the html number or the html name for many ascii characters:

i believe what karen is saying is that you need to use the html name code in the HTML tab of wordpress

    Code:
    Ç
    Code:
    ç
but I just copied and pasted ç into a new post and saved w/out issue - so I suspect your theme is doing something it shouldn't...

If your wanting to show your users how to create this symbol then why not demonstrate the character pallet to them?
