How to transfer from hosting A to hosting B?

Hi warriors,

I'm planning to transfer my website to a new hosting. And here are some of my issues:

Can I transfer subdomain.website1.com files in Hosting A to website2.com in Hosting B?

If can, how to do that?

Thank you for any help..

    Anything can be done mate!

How you go about this depends on the technology of your site - if it's just plain HTML files, just make sure any paths in them are relative (eg. <a href="/contact">, rather than <a href="http://subdomain.website1.com/contact">), then copy the files over. Done!

If it's wordpress, same deal, but you'll also need to change the base url and home url and migrate the database.

There are some wordpress plugins that can do this for you, but I'll be honest with you... I've never had a plugin do the job right - YMMV

Either pure HTML / PHP / Wordpress or and other CMS transferring from 1 host to another is not an issue as long as the new hosting has the minimum requirements to run the code. Some hosting providers will actually move it over for free other don't. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself you should contact someone who is quailed to do the move for you. I done it years and years for my clients in endless different hosting companies/packages without issue. Good Luck and PM if you have any questions.

Just ask your host to move it for you.
It's very easy for them to do.

    Hi Masterqif,

Do you mean redirecting url or transferring whole url?

Basically you zip your whole website with it's sub-domains in tact, then unzip it on the new host, and redirect everything to the new host, so basically everything remains the same. Directory structure, e-mails, passwords etc.

Most hosts will do the work for you if you ask.

Your new web host should be able to do this for you with minimal effort.
