WordPress bbpress alternative [thoughts]

Hi!

There are very few plugins which allows you to create a forum that works seamlessly with your WordPress based site.

Since WordPress is so popular, I think we should have more options to choose from.

I'm thinking to develop an alternative to bbpress plugin for WordPress, something with more features and with a more professional look.

Would you be interested in something like this?

    bbPress is popular and very good modular plugin. It can be extended using extension plugin and it has many extension plugins too. In my opinion, if you want to make an alternative of it, your product needs to have very unique selling point because bbPress has many free extensions. Or you can create bbPress premium extension. If it has market, it's good and unique people of course will buy it. And it's faster of course in the process.

      Yes, bbpress has some extensions to improve its features, but even so, they are not enough. You will need 20 additional plugins to enhance bbpress additional functionality. This will make your forum hard to maintain and can lower your site's speed.

      You can't easily change some things with extensions or it will need a lot of useless code to override some aspects of bbpress (for example to bring the bbpress look to something more like phpbb, vbulletin, smf, etc.)
