I am still learning myself but only to see what's possible. Nothing too fancy and I use eclipse for Android as well. It does the job well. Its not about hardcoding really, every platform will require it's own code. Phonegap is an option but it has it's limits.

I have been playing around with some apps. Mostly just for personal use using the Eclipse plugin. I was also putting together an app to streamline building android apps for people without programming knowledge, although I have mostly put that on hold for various reasons.
